To think the job market in teaching has been tough this year?

I had to job hunt this year. Nightmare. Got loads of rejections before getting offered a post. I normally am pretty much guaranteed an interview (not a job, sadly, but I do almost always get shortlisted!)

Yet from a discussion elsewhere it seems that there are many teaching posts left vacant, as many teachers have left and the schools haven’t been able to recruit a replacement.

I wondered what others experiences were?

I think the issue is that the government gives less money to schools every year and now they have so little that it’s much more preferable for them to recruit new teachers as they’re cheaper. Bit of a worry on a personal level but also nuts as you’ll end up with high proportions of inexperienced teachers.

That’s been a thing for ages though, tbh, it was being talked about when I qualified in 2003 Grin

YNBU it's been hard. Unless you're retiring you're staying put.
