AIBU to not know what to give my son for a 21st birthday present? In my day we were given an expensive watch or piece of jewellery …. But times have changed and I do not have friends in a similar situation to discuss with them . So what does a 21st birthday present look like in 2021? ( and I know it depends on personal financial situations, and what people can afford, but I would just like to hear what other people do!)

What does he like ? I have. Girls had a bracelet and money the other had a watch and some money. We also went weekends away but they paid their shares.

Did they get a 'big' present on their 18th? I wouldn't do huge 21st if they'd had the big 18 celebration.
It's difficult especially when kids have their own money and can buy what they want anyway. I think mine had a mix of new iPhone, a watch, a ring, expensive trainers and scent. Not always permanent keepsakes, but what they wanted at the time.

Mine's getting tix to his favourite team's home match against Man U (who he hates) plus (extortionate) train fare down to see it. We live a long way from his favourite team so he's never actually seen them play.

Mine got their 'big' presents or party for their 18th, so we didn't do anything 'significant' for their 21sts.

My 21st was a bit of an anti climax. I was planning my wedding so that was the important thing going on at the time. I got a collector's coin from that year and we went out for a meal which my sister moaned through because she wanted to go to pizza hut.
