Has he given me an STD?!?

Posting here because I know this attracts more attention. Freaking out rn!been with dh for 6 years, 2 dc. So me and DH had sex on Sunday (won’t go into details but this included oral sex and PIV). A couple of days later I remember going to use the toilet in the morning and smelling a very strong fishy odour down there. I know women do have a natural scent down there but honestly I’ve never smelt like that before. I was immediately alarmed but assumed that it may just be BV, happens right? The smell has also gone now, thankfully.

well over the last couple of days the inside of my top lip has felt really sore and I assumed it may be a cut or something. Just had a look and can see two white (painful) spots, not sure if they’re blisters or ulcers. But now I’m freaking out! If I have an STD it’s clearly because DH has been messing around as I haven’t had sex with anyone other than him.

See a doctor, no-one here can diagnose you.

You need to get tested!

Definitely get tested. I don't know if you'd see symptoms that quickly though? Could it be thrush?

Also the herpes virus can be dormant for years so it may not necessarily follow that he's been playing around.

Go to your GUM clinic. It's the best place.

No one can tell you over the internet. The vaginal odour could just be BV. I get it randomly sometimes when my ph is out of whack and it goes away by itself in a couple days. The lip sores again could be something totally unrelated. But you won't have peace of mind until you get tested.

Also, better not to accuse your DH of anything at this stage, as you can't take that back. Fingers crossed that it turns out to be something innocent!

OP Nobody here can say. IF you’ve no other reason to suspect, then based on these symptoms alone I actually think an STD is really unlikely. You mouth sounds like mouth ulcers…really painful! I get them when I’m stressed or run down. If you’re worried though, it’s always worth seeing your GP who can screen you. It will put your mind at ease. Take care 💐

1. Go to a GUM clinic and ask for a full STD check, or if you can’t work out how to access one, ask a GP.
2. It might be a STD. Might also be a ‘normal’ bacteria imbalance or even an allergic reaction to eg latex / aftershave / toilet paper bleach / new soap etc.
3. Some STDs can lie dormant for years so if you have got a STD it does not follow that there has necessarily been infidelity. Be very careful what you assume.

Weird to bump a thread about this. Hopefully OP now all sorted after 7 months.

You can order an STD test online and they deliver it to your house and you do a swab and post it back. It's called 24H or something like that. Very easy to do! Hopefully it's just a blip and he hasn't given you anything.

As it was last August I doubt that a 24h service is what the OP needs.
