To ask about your favourite small charities helping children? Any in Afghanistan?

Does anyone know of any? I understand how charity is a business and I usually donate to the large charities who understandably spend a large amount of money on marketing, raising awareness etc. But as someone without a lot of money it sometimes feels like what I can donate would be much better spent at a smaller charity. Does anyone know any?

What is really needed is a website to catalogue small charities based on important issues (children, animals, women etc.) and location (country, region etc). But I don't believe anything of that nature exists?

Posting here for traffic! TIA

You mean like the Charities Commission?

@Lockheart I hadn't heard of this, thank you. It looks like this is quite useful for finding local charities but it isn't exactly what I meant. It would be good to have a database for finding charities based on important issues.

Children in crisis is a good one. They work all over the world on a shoestring.

Check with your local churches/ foodbanks/ council/citizens advice bureau and voluntary sector community. They will know of and work alongside local small charities who deal with families, children, refuges, domestic abuse survivors etc. They're the charities who need our support as they operate on tiny budgets. Plus, they're overlooked for grants as they're hoovered up by the larger charities.........

Thank you @KeflavikAirport @FizzyDibdab Smile

I've no idea what has happened to their Afghan activities, but they are also active in other troubling locations
