To ask if it’s worth paying for a private psychiatrist for her

If dd is experiencing intrusive thoughts that she’s done something bad. Been brought up a number of times to
Community mental health team and no action taken. We feel it might be ocd. If this is the case could it be diagnosed in one appointment?

I have this kind of OCD and yes an NHS psychiatrist diagnosed after one appointment. Private psychiatrists might not, they are extremely expensive and might only diagnose after a few appointments and a (paid for) report. How old is DD? Personally I think the best route is medication from a GP and spend the money on a course of private Exposure Response Prevention Therapy. Good luck, I really feel for her, that kind of intrusive thoughts and compulsive rumination tortured me Sad Luckily it is generally treatable.

How old is your daughter? I have been seen both privately and on the NHS. A private consultant can diagnose and get her started on any medication or advise on therapy.follow ups are cheaper than the first consultation. If her life is being affected I would suggest going privately. Assessment by CMHT is hard to get in many areas at the moment.

I went privately and was diagnosed in one session. I have OCD and from experience they do hold off on diagnosing minors, so there may be some reluctance.

She’s an adult

Private would be the fastest route, they may or may not diagnose her in one consultation though!

I'd say ring round some private consultancies and ask. Can you look anywhere for recommendations?
I hope she is ok Thanks
