Aibu to ditch my smart phone?

I got this phone in January and I've smashed the screen and had it replaced twice. It is now smashed again. I'm careless and terrible with every smart phone I've had. This particular one costs me £20 a month.

I use it to bank online, online shop, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, MN, emails taking photos, google maps, Google search, etc.

I feel like I'd be lost without it but I quite like the idea of feeling free from my smartphone and all the while I have one, I'll use it too much, I know I will.

So, i was thinking of buying a cheap pay as you go phone basic texts and calls. I'd have to get a sat Nav for my car. I'd also get a couple of disposable cameras for holidays and special occasions but I'm not a prolific photo taker.

Banking I'd have to do on my laptop, same as ordering shopping, etc.

The only issue I have still is sometimes things I do require me to upload photos and send via email or whatever. I could get round this by using DHs phone on the odd occasion, I suppose. Also, I bank with monzo and sometimes they want you to verify payments before they let them go through and you do this on your mobile app so I think I might even have to change bank too?!

I want to try and go smart phone free but it seems daunting and scary.

AIBU to try? - has anyone done this?

I was a late adopter of smart phones too! I loved my tiny Nokia that tucked into my hip pocket on my jeans or in my bra when necessary🤣

Unfortunately everyone else had a smart phone and my little Nokia couldn't cope with the messages other people sent.

Then I started missing out on a lot of things because there were being organised on whatsapp etc. I want really bothered fir myself, but the kids were starting to miss out
And then I started having an unavoidable wait in the car between work & school pick up & at various activities & I thought a smart phone would mean I could free up my time at home by doing emails/payments/making arrangements when I was waiting fir the kids anyway.

I didn't think I'd use the camera much, but I was wrong! (And it's one less thing to carry when the camera can stay home).

I do sometimes yearn for the simplicity of life pre mobile phones/emails/internet... and I'm glad I get up when I did, but we can't turn the clock back!!

Nothing to stop you trying it.

Would be easier just to get a little self control though 🤣🤣and a goid screen/cover!!
