To use baked beans instead?

Quick one!

Got all the ingredients for a chilli con carne but just about to start cooking and realised I forgot kidney beans!
Cannot be arsed loading kids in the car to go to the shops for some but I do have baked beans in the cupboard - would it be abhorrent to tip a tin of those in the mix?

Help please!

They're just cannellini beans, chuck them in and you'll end up putting them in every chilli. They're really good.
They're haricot not cannellini.

I never use kidney beans I hate them. baked beans are fine.

The chilli recipe i use demands baked beans. I don't like kidney beans. I usually use the bbq baked beans and they go down a treat!

I’ve done it. Add towards the end just to heat them, though. Otherwise they disappear!

Rinsed off baked beans is cheaper than a tin of haricot beans.

I don’t like the thought of baked beans. But I don’t use kidney beans either. I use chickpeas and black beans.

Beans do not belong in chilli, not even kidney beans.
Every chilli com carne recipe I’ve ever seen has red kidney beans in it.

It's not really authentic apparently but it tastes fantastic. I do it in the slow cooker for 6-8 hours.
