What are the best charities or organisations collecting toys and clothes for Afghan refugees? I am near Manchester and I know we have lots of refugees coming here and want to do what I can to help.

Hello the Afghan resettlement program is fully funded by the government so organisations not really looking for ‘stuff’ however you can donate to refugee support organisations who need funds to support afghan refugees as well as refugees and asylum seekers from other countries. Check the websites for the British Red Cross, refugee council and smaller local organisations supporting destitute migrants.

I saw this on Twitter yesterday, have no other knowledge of the charity, but mentions collection of items in Manchester

I live near York. I would like to give money but also have very good quality kitchen stuff and toys. Any ideas ?

There's collections being done by specific communities eg my fairly small town has offered to take 4 families - we are collecting furniture, household goods, clothing, toys and bikes currently and 2 properties have so far been offered. Yes the government pays rent and a stipend but it's small. There's also an organisation called welcome churches who was requesting support today
