To ask what this is?!

My daughter got this in a goodie bag today when she enrolled for A levels.
What is it?!
It's on a keyring. The black bits are foam/rubber. The lid flips off. It's got to be something IT/study/student related if it was given out at enrollment.

Why does the lid come off if its a phone stand?
