Weird weakness and spasms. AIBU to be worried?

Name change as I will tell people about this IRL too.

Last night one of my thumbs went all weak and was kind of locked in place like a cramp but without the pain. I had to move it with the fingers of my other hand. I wondered about carpal tunnel. Today the thumb on my other hand has felt very weak and keeps spasming.

I'm middle aged and overweight.

I absolutely do not have health anxiety and would usually ignore little things like this but it's been bad all day and now I think I have a similar feeling in my lower leg (same side as spasming thumb). I don't know if I really have a headache and feel strange or if I'm imagining it. I'm pretty sure I feel not quite with it.

I know I'm going to be told to call 111 but I just think I'll sound a bit crazy.

Any thoughts on what could be causing it? Anything I should genuinely worry about?

I've no idea what might be causing it, but it sounds like it's getting worse, and I'd definitely see a doctor very soon, just to check that it's nothing serious. Sudden and spreading muscle weakness and spasms sounds problematic to me, as a non-medical person!

I hope you find out and can treat whatever is causing it soon! Let us know how you get on?

Definitely see your GP about it, there could be numerous causes.

I would ask for a blood test. Sometimes cramps in hands are symptoms of hypocalecemia and if it is the case can be treated quickly once you have the results.
