£20 scratch card and £5 on set for life Sad better than nothing I suppose!

If you've ever won a large sum, how did you spend it all? Did it have a huge impact on your life?

Not scratchcards as such but I won £101 last week on an online free spins thing. Not spent it yet!

Fluffy40 · 23/08/2021 17:19

I won an amount on the post code lottery, enough to buy a new iPad, I was very pleased.

cleckheatonwanderer · 23/08/2021 17:20

£5

Eaumyword · 23/08/2021 17:21

£130 on a rollover lottery! It would have been amazing to have had more zero's on it, but nice nevertheless.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 23/08/2021 17:22

£100 on a scratchcard.

tootiredtobother · 23/08/2021 17:22

£50 on lottery age ago
quite frequent silly amounts like 2.90 on euromillions
sister won £5k on lottery ages ago im due a big premium bonds win in my opinion

Moneyshaker · 23/08/2021 17:23

@Brogues once you've decided you'll have to come and let us all know what you're going to buy with your winnings Grin

@Fluffy40 what a lovely treat!

£50
When I claimed it at a newsagent they told me that it was rare to win that much

sunshineandshowers21 · 23/08/2021 17:27

i won £5,000 on a scratch card a couple of years ago. me, my mum, and my sister all bought one at the same time so i gave them £1,500 each and spent the rest on a handbag. also won £1,000 but i was by myself that time so didn’t split it. i spent that on a pram that i barely used and then gave to my sister.

thefourgp · 23/08/2021 17:29

£100 on a scratch card

I know someone who won £125k on an instant online gambling site but he’s got a gambling addiction and spends hundreds/thousands per month. I believe the online gambling sites algorithms are set up to pay big wins to gambling addicts because they know they’ll get a lot of the money back.

Moneyshaker · 23/08/2021 17:32

@sunshineandshowers21 it was very kind of you to share it with your sister and mum Smile

@thefourgp oh gosh such a waste then!

£40 on a scratch card, rarely buy. £200 on euro millions once years ago and I play that probably every few weeks when the jackpot creeps up.

My DSis is very lucky though, several £100+ scratch card wins, at least be of £1k and loads of £20/£40. I’m obviously only told about the wins though, no idea how much she spends/plays.

burritofan · 23/08/2021 17:38

£64. After consultation with an IFA I diversified my portfolio across high-return, low-risk investments such as: dunno, it disappeared into the quagmire of childcare and renovation and Dairy Milk.

CrimeJunkie01 · 23/08/2021 17:39

£120 11 years ago. Nothing much since.

ChocolateFudgeBrownieDonut · 23/08/2021 17:40

£250 on one scratchcard on another bought at the same time I won £10

magicstar1 · 23/08/2021 17:45

I got a free casino bet a couple of months ago 3 which won €500. I’ve invested in shares so hopefully it’ll make me a nice amount.

RickJames · 23/08/2021 17:45

120 pounds!

The Chinese restaurant I used to go to in London used to give you a lottery ticket if you spent more than 30£ on a takeout. It was very fun realising that I had a winner and the restaurant staff thought it was cool too.

I don't play the lottery other than that one instance.

HotChoc10 · 23/08/2021 17:46

£175 on premium bonds one month.

thenightsky · 23/08/2021 17:48

£6k on the National Lottery.

WeAllHaveWings · 23/08/2021 17:50

Our work syndicate won £2,500 between 6 of us. Another syndicate in same place won a very nice £400k between 8 of them.

DevilFinger · 23/08/2021 17:51

Not a physical scratch card but I match bet and have had a few largeish online 'wins' most recently 1000, 775 and 400. Best risk free was in the World Cup which was 00000's

MooChops89 · 23/08/2021 17:52

£40 is the most on a scratchcard, the odd £2 or £5 here and there.
Won £14,500 at bingo when I was a student though! Used it to learn to drive but mostly frittered it away on shite Blush
