Sugar and vinegar

SmallGreenStripes · 22/08/2021 19:28

Write the person’s name on their forehead

SmallGreenStripes · 22/08/2021 19:28

With your fingers, not a pen Grin

Snooks1971 · 22/08/2021 19:30

No not that one, it was something about squeezing certain fingers !

You need an assistant, but drink water whilst stretching your arms up above your head as high as you can. I've never seen it fail.

heldinadream · 22/08/2021 19:31

Hold your breath. Might need to do it a few times but it helps calm the diaphragm.
Drink water out of the opposite side of a glass 9bending over it).

There's no 'the way' there are many things that might work or might not work, and the hiccups will go away anyway by themselves.

Snooks1971 · 22/08/2021 19:32

Thank you it’s for DH. He’s revelling in his hiccups

Drink from the further away side of a cup. You have to bend your head over to do it. Always works.

SweatyBetty20 · 22/08/2021 19:33

That was me!!! Squeeze the sides of both middle fingers for ten seconds! (Don’t tell him what you’re going to do - for some reason it works better!)

ShitShop · 22/08/2021 19:34

No it wasn't about drinking water was it. Something about squeezing the middle fingers of each hand?

Knittingupastorm · 22/08/2021 19:34

Don’t know if it works, but it was on the “life hacks” thread and I think it was squeezing the middle finger really hard.

ShitShop · 22/08/2021 19:34

That was it Sweaty!

SweatyBetty20 · 22/08/2021 19:34

And please come back and let me know if it works :-)

Plug both your ears tightly, pushing both traguses and drink a glass of water through a straw.

Nothing to do with fingers but drink a shot glass of Ribena cordial (or similar) . I don't know how it works but it does.

Unfashionable · 22/08/2021 19:38

Stand up straight with your hands linked behind your head. Elbows back, boobs forward. Inhale as deeply as you can & hold your breath for as long as you can. This creates downward pressure on the diaphragm which should stop it spasming, which is what a hiccup is.

milcal · 22/08/2021 19:42

Drink small sips of water from a glass while someone covers your ear with their hands.

knittingaddict · 22/08/2021 19:44

Hold your breath and count to ten. Works for me.

YanTanTethera123 · 22/08/2021 19:44

Coughing stops mine.

Same here. DH very dramatic. We’ve just started watching The Hole on Netflix and they’ve stopped. Thank god, he was seriously annoying me 😡
