Are they the paper ones?
It's to encourage you to reuse the ones you already have

SquirryTheSquirrel · 22/08/2021 18:25

Because Morrisons want to make money, like all businesses.

Can't you take your own bags instead of buying new ones?

Redglitter · 22/08/2021 18:26

Is that online shopping or in the store

Tevion28 · 22/08/2021 18:27

I had gone without bags and the price took me by surprise with all my stuff on the conveyor so I ended up paying.
Not the paper ones the plastic.

Tevion28 · 22/08/2021 18:27

LavenderPink · 22/08/2021 18:28

So you don't buy them as much and when you do they make some money?

Tevion28 · 22/08/2021 18:28

I hate those paper ones

I always keep a couple of cotton tote bags in my handbag to avoid being caught without bags, or when we do our planned shop and take a bundle of bags, avoiding finding we don't have enough room.

If you are in the car there's always the option of putting it back into your trolley unbagged and unloading it straight into the boot. It's whether you think the faff is worth it to save N x 60p

dementedpixie · 22/08/2021 18:31

Just checked and the paper ones are 30p
What kind are 60p?

vanityfairsbackpage · 22/08/2021 18:32

to discourage you from buying them obviously. Didn’t you notice that all plastic bags have a tax now?

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 22/08/2021 18:35

I bought the paper ones once and they ripped straightaway

bellabasset · 22/08/2021 18:40

Don't they sell the longer lasting ones for 60p or thereabouts. I bought some last year in store

Tevion28 · 22/08/2021 18:47

Just the standard plastic bags are 60p most places they are 20p

I found morrisons paper bags to be very sturdy
I have quite a few reusable bags and try to keep some in the car. I have been known to wheel the trolley to the car to pack bags as I haven't taken any or enough into the shop

BarbaraofSeville · 22/08/2021 19:07

AIBU to wonder where you've been for the last 5+ years?

It doesn't matter if they're plastic or paper. People need discouraging from single use items. Charging for bags is proven to reduce the amount that gets used.

If you unexpectedly pick up more than you intended, pick up a box from the shelves as you go round the supermarket and use that, rather than buying yet another shopping bag.

SeoultoSeoul · 22/08/2021 19:13

I can't get annoyed with Morrisons.
Love that they give free sanitary protection to any woman who can't afford it.
The 60p bags are the longlasting woven type, I use mine (with watermelons on) as beach bags.

Meggie2008 · 22/08/2021 21:52

Eh the watermelon bags were 75p in our Morrisons today, am I being ripped off? 😂
