Is this text message a bit strange?

Met someone on OLD and have been seeing each other a couple of months. Lives a fair distance away so exchange messages, brief ones through the day.
Exchanged a couple of messages this morning and then nothing since 9ish. He has just sent a text wishing me a happy Saturday and telling me what he did with his day Hmm. Do you think this was meant for someone else and if so how do I respond?

What makes you think it wasn’t meant for you? It seems a reasonably normal kind of text to send to someone you’ve been dating a couple of months but aren’t seeing for another few days.

Guavaf1sh · 21/08/2021 22:08

Sounds okay to me

Kindlethefourth · 21/08/2021 22:08

I think he just wants to talk you and doesn't have a specific question to start off the chat hence the 'happy Saturday' opener.

JulesCobb · 21/08/2021 22:08

I dont get why this would be weird.

OiPanda · 21/08/2021 22:08

Why do you think it wasn't for you? He's asking how your day went.

MouseInCatsClaws · 21/08/2021 22:08

That sounds normal to me?

CatchThatCat · 21/08/2021 22:09

It sounds normal to me too and likely he just forgot he’d texted earlier or had more time this evening ?

isthisfishy · 21/08/2021 22:09

Just that we had already spoken that day. Perhaps I'm overthinking....

I think meant for someone else,if you had already exchanged messages earlier in the day it's odd to now wish you a happy Saturday, surely?

Blueskythinking123 · 21/08/2021 22:11

I'd find it odd if we'd already been texting. Id expect that as a first text of the day.

isthisfishy · 21/08/2021 22:12

@Rabbitheadlights that's what I was thinking.

OiPanda · 21/08/2021 22:12

Maybe he was hungover this morning so counted that as yesterday?

GertietheGherkin · 21/08/2021 22:13

I can't see anything wrong with that text message at all 🤔

It's only like someone starting a message with "Hope you're having a good day? I've been doing X, Y & Z, what have you been upto?"

How often do you see each other? Is it not at the weekend?

OiPanda · 21/08/2021 22:13

Maybe for his mum?

Lou98 · 21/08/2021 22:13

I don't think it's odd when the last messages you sent were at 9am (unless I've read that wrong) then hadn't spoken all day since then.

I'd assume it was just a conversation starter

Frodogo · 21/08/2021 22:13

Yeah, if it weren't for the fact that he'd already spoken to you I wouldn't think twice about it, but that might be a bit odd. Could be nothing, though...

RosiePosieDozy · 21/08/2021 22:15

I know what you mean about why would he say Happy Saturday when he's already texted you today. But then again, the texts this morning were at 9am. It's now 10pm. When you've had a busy day, you can easily forget what you texted that morning.

aerosocks · 21/08/2021 22:37

My DH's texts to me sometimes take quite a few hours to arrive, and occasionally they come in a different order to the way he sent them. Causes no end of confusion occasionally.

Mango101 · 21/08/2021 22:46

Why would he wish any one a happy Saturday after the day has finished ?

That's the odd bit for me.
Whoever it was intended for.
