For not isolating

Okay so we have a situation, we've been identified as a contact of somebody that has tested positive for COVID, now we're both double jabbed and have now done three separate lateral flow tests each (all negative) and have booked in for a PCR just incase for 10am in the morning. WIBU if after having the test I quickly pop into the supermarket? We literally have nothing in the house and if we end up having to isolate for 10 days we would be a little screwed. None of the major supermarkets deliver to our address and my family are currently away and not able to shop for us. (Govt advice says we don't technically have to isolate)

It’s fine. You don’t have to self isolate and the PCR is precautionary.

llmk · 21/08/2021 00:08

Why are you doing a PCR if you are not doing it to release from isolation?

MarcelineMissouri · 21/08/2021 00:08

You have read the government advice which tells you you don’t need to isolate! You don’t even HAVE to take the pcr test.

An abundance of caution really, DP works in a business with medically vulnerable adults so we're just trying to be extra cautious as it's quite possible that if one of his colleagues caught it they would be seriously ill.

Sorry ignore me. I didn't realise you were not required to PCR to release, presume England

You don't even need to isolate while waiting for the results of a PCR test now. Just crack on!

sst1234 · 21/08/2021 01:50

Yes, it would be weird and a total over reaction if you did isolate. Like you say you double and haven’t even been diagnosed with anything yet. Sure some virus enthusiasts would like everyone to be isolated everytime they looks at someone with Covid but it’s totally unnecessary.
