DP wants to know what i want, he is under strict instructions not to buy something random.

I am 51, not into fashion or clothes, don't wear make up. I wouldn't say i was frumpy, more hippy/scary mary type!

There's nothing i need and i have my own money if i want anything like shoes etc.

Reasonable budget this year, often we dont have the money so dont bother with bdays. I bought him an ipad this year. I dont really need any tech.

I would like to have something nice - suggestions ??

Afternoon tea somewhere nice and a massage.

A subscription either to netflix/now TV or something food related

Chikapu · 20/08/2021 19:40

Do you have any hobbies? I knit so would say something like a skein of hand-dyed sock yarn, some Chiaogoo needles in a size I don't have, some stitch markers/progress keepers.

Dobbyismyabsolutefav · 20/08/2021 19:50

How about a nice rucksack can be trendy but practical rather than fashionable.

Or how about a make your own gin experience I've have fun at one of these with my DH. Or a wine tasting, tour round a vineyard, tasting afterwards and sharing plate to soak up the booze!

KarmaStar · 20/08/2021 19:53

A donation to charity?there's as lot of innocent animals trapped in Afghanistan,Welfare For Animals Action Group have started a campaign to rescue as many as possible.
A voucher for a hobby?
Some homemade promises voucher for things like breakfast in bed,to wash up every night for a week,a dinner out,a shopping trip.
A new bike
A course you've always wanted to do.

TimeForTeaAndG · 20/08/2021 19:57

Tickets to a show, dinner somewhere you've always wanted to go, a spa day...

Basically anything that is an "experience" rather than stuff.

Weekend away in a cosy cottage.

altiara · 20/08/2021 20:00

Do you want a ‘thing’ or an experience?

If it was me, I’d like afternoon tea, going to an escape room, or dinner and cocktails out, theatre tickets.
Or a carpenter to make my weird shelving area into a built in cupboard. That would bring me great joy every single day!

altiara · 20/08/2021 20:00

Maybe a Kindle unlimited subscription ?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 20/08/2021 20:00

A trip somewhere. We do that. A small gift and a trip. Just couple of nights.

WisestIsShe · 20/08/2021 20:00

I'd like some kind of cashmere poncho/wrap for the autumn. A little bit of everyday luxury.
Or something crafty? A basket weaving course? A new sewing machine?
A bit of antique jewellery? There are some really lovely things available on Etsy or other websites.

BareVanilla · 20/08/2021 20:01

A watercolour paint set with brushes and pad. Maybe an adult class to go with it. Totally random but if you have your own money you might want to be gifted something you wouldn’t buy yourself.

Datsandcogs · 20/08/2021 20:30

A night away in a swish hotel. Theatre trip. Luxury food hamper. Chef come in to cook dinner.

Whysolong7 · 20/08/2021 20:32

Hot air ballon ride.

nettytree · 20/08/2021 20:37

I wanted guinea pigs. I got a bottle of perfume.

LEMtheoriginal · 20/08/2021 20:39

Some great ideas here. I quite like the idea of an escape room or similar sort of thing. We have a meal out planned in a restaurant that weve not tried before.

A piece of artwork or hand crafted item- I like receiving and giving handmade or handcrafted items. Buying from the artist or crafts person direct you know you are supporting a small business. Doesn’t have to be very expensive. Something for all budgets
Yesitsbess · 20/08/2021 20:44

Do you want a tangible thing or an experience thing?

NalPolishRemover · 20/08/2021 20:44

Jewellery that has meaning to you
Or a trip away for a couple of nights
They'd be my choices

0nlyMe · 20/08/2021 20:59

I’d like to receive a day out/experience personally. With a free babysitting service thrown in. Wink
