Aibu? There's should be an edit function! The amount of times my phone has spelt thing incorrectly, or failed to quote etc. We should be able to edit!

OP posts:

Preview the post rather than posting straight away and you can do this… thought that was pretty obvious 🤦‍♀️

Kpo58 · 20/08/2021 07:48

Maybe they could do a time limited edit function for let's say up to 10 mins after a post is posted.

Lockheart · 20/08/2021 07:48

Try posting in site stuff OP, this is the wrong section.

I've always assumed it's because you'd then get people writing really horrible posts and then editing and claiming they never said that. I'm sure someone on the tech team could recover the original post but it would be a lot of extra work.

It's much simpler if users proof read.

Maybe there could be an edit function to move the thread and a delete option when you realise that this question is asked every week and the replies never change and you could just read them Grin Grin
pinkcircustop · 20/08/2021 08:14

YABU. Just proof read your posts.

3Br1tnee · 20/08/2021 08:14

We also need what few features there are, to be available on every platform. I use the app on android and it barely even posts. No voting function, no filter option, can't upload pics.

But they did make adverts appear on it after a few people said they don't get them on it 🙄

It's very easy to have a button at the bottom where you can see the previous unedited post. This is a simple function from 90s forums. As are most of the functions people ask for. I really don't understand why mn insist on being so behind.
Dogscanteatonions · 20/08/2021 08:17

Bugger that. People would be changing their posts to suit their narrative when opinion doesn't go their way!

Sparklingbrook · 20/08/2021 08:18

I’ve linked this week’s thread in Site Stuff.Grin ^^

Must be about time for a ‘I demand a Like Button’ thread…

I never understood this argument. Almost every other forum I've ever used has an edit option and this has literally never happened. Most forums either have a timed edit function or they show the edit on the original post, some do both.

A while back I'm sure MNHQ mentioned it might be added as a premium member function but it seems this idea has been put on the back burner.

Sparklingbrook · 20/08/2021 08:57

I can't think of many advantages except maybe a timed one to correct a spelling/typo error that means the post is nonsensical.
Plus it might just stop the 'accidental' hilarious typos.

Coogee · 20/08/2021 08:58

A strict time limit would stop that.
