I’ve heard children speaking in my dds room when she’s the only child, there was no tv etc that could have made the voices

My dad had a long drawn out death. Towards the end he joked that if there was a heaven etc he'd send me a sign.

The day after he died we were in bed when we suddenly heard white noise, I realised it was the shower radio my son had for Christmas so I went to turn it off. As I reached out my hand my dads favourite song started playing. My son and I were stunned. Lynrd skynrds the boys are back in town was the song. Still gives me shivers to think about it.

@Claricethecat45 That's so beautiful Flowers

I've had a few:

Used to live alone, in a small flat. Had a favourite lipstick and one day it went missing, looked for it for weeks but couldn't find it, it was expensive so I was loath to buy a new one. Went into the kitchen one afternoon and there it was, in the middle of the kitchen table. I'd eaten breakfast at the table in the morning, and had been the only person in the flat all day.

Similarly in a previous house, I was getting ready for work one morning, carrying my mug of tea around the house with me. Put it down and went to pick it up and it wasn't there. Looked around, and it was smack bang in the middle of the lounge carpet, definitely not somewhere I would have put it, and again noone else was in the house

Last one - I was really struggling to sleep one night, drifting in and out of sleep and I woke up and 'saw' my friend in the corner of my room. Blinked and he was gone. Didn't think too much of it and wrote it off as a weird dream thing until later the next day when I heard he'd been rushed to hospital with meningitis - I was absolutely convinced I'd had a premonition of his death, but luckily he made a full recovery!

Iamclaracowbell · 19/08/2021 15:37

Just remembered another one - living with my ex, I couldn't sleep one night, so got up and went in the lounge and put the light on, it was about 1am. Not something I normally did. After about 5 minutes of the light going on the landline rang...I answered it and it was a man who just kept repeating 'my name is Joe'....I said I didn't know a Joe, and he responded 'You may not know me baby, but I know you'. Slammed the phone down and ran straight back to bed!

@hashbrownsandwich

Short version. I had a vision from someone asking me to find his war broach. He told me exactly where it was and I mean this was literally in the middle of a field on parents in laws land.

Next day, text from MIL saying someone had been on their land and had handed her this broach that they found in that exact place with mental detector.

A mental detector sounds quite useful!

Mummapenguin20 · 19/08/2021 18:12

2015 2 weeks before my grandad died he told me me and my partner of a year were forever, and id have a baby boy. Six miscarriages later i assumed i couldnt carry boys (i have two daughters) but wasnt willing to go through heartbreak again and went on the depo injection in october 2019. On my grandads anniversary in december i had the urge to test positive. I cried thinking here we go again. On my grandads birthday i found out at a routine scan i was having a boy. My son was born 2 weeks early on the date of my last miscarriage!

  1. no matter where i put my sons bath toys we wake up to them in the bath lined up

I should have had a meeting late one evening quite a few miles away from home. It was in the same city as my parents/childhood home. I decided to go early to pop into my parents (I didn’t tell them that I’d was going as I didn’t think I’d have time as I was snowed under).

They weren’t in so I settled down on the sofa and was wasting time on my phone. My phone died so I decided to get on my work laptop and do work. I remember thinking it was a good thing as I needed to concentrate on my spreadsheets. I didn’t connect to their WiFi as I didn’t feel the need to.

I sat there for around two hours not thinking of anything else apart from how much work I was smashing out before my meeting.

My phone and I was my brother asking where the hell I was. My beloved family member had passed away and the family were holding a wake at their house. My brother just happened to connect to my phone when he was less than a 5 minute drive from my parents house - an hour away from the house we had to go.

In those two hours I had 27 missed calls. My phone was truly and utterly dead - why didn’t it turn on at all beforehand. Not only did not just turn on it stayed on for a couple of minutes to get the details.

It’s one of those things I often wonder ‘how’. Why not turn on on the first phone call, how did it turn on at all?!

Strange as my parents asked my brother to drive to my actual house to pick me up.

Agh I love reading these but it means I won't be able to sleep for nights 😫

Rhannion · 19/08/2021 18:55

@Claricethecat45

5 years ago I had to have my old horse (28) put to sleep. I had had him for 24 years and he lived at home and was a special friend to me mostly, but he loved my non horsey husband too.

It was a wrench making the decision and we planned to have the vet come at noon and send him off at home. Desperate sad day but I know it was the kindest thing to do but the saddest goodbye

After the vet had gone-at midday- and his body was lying in the field, we took some flowers and left them with him, and a carrot. Once he was taken away for cremation-which we couldn't possibly watch, the husband and I eventually went to the stables and field to clear up everything.....couldn't face it until about 6 pm.

Walking back to the house we both stopped....CLEAR as day, we heard his whicker....not even faint, and definitely his whicker....a few rounds of it too- not just one faint sound. There was no wind, it was a still July evening and there were no other horses within several miles of the house.

Husband said to me as I said to him 'its him- he is saying goodbye'

I had no doubt, neither did my husband.....we both felt at peace that evening although still devastated.

I never heard it again and although we have now moved home away from the area, I now believe strongly that we heard his spirit and his presence. Thanking us- I would like to think.

Im welling up just writing this.

You’ve got me in tears here We had to get our beautiful big dog put to sleep last year , he was our darling boy and we held him as he passed. The night after the vet had been I woke up and heard his big paws coming up the stair and into our bedroom, and he lay down beside our bed with his usual sigh at my husband’s side which was his usual place. I sat up to look but there of course our beautiful boy wasn’t there anymore. I haven’t mentioned it to my husband because he doesn’t believe in stuff that like and it might upset him more but I know what I heard and it made me feel slightly better but still heartbroken.
Ashard20 · 19/08/2021 18:56

I wasn't there when my dad died. The words from The Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics had always resonated with me, so I wrote out the words from that verse, I wasn't there that morning when my father passed away etc and put them in my Dad's coffin.
Wind forward six months to my 19yo ds on his first parade as a musician in the army. My dad would have been so proud as he had always loved anything military and military bands. We walked into the pub for a celebration meal afterwards with DS and The Living Years started to play. I like to think that he was there and enjoying it as much as he would have, had he been alive.

What beautiful stories. Our pets love us so faithfully in life. It's so comforting to think that they can continue to do so.

What made it more strange was the fact that for the past few weeks before he passed on, he had stopped coming up the stairs as his legs weren’t up to it anymore and he had a lovely bed downstairs.

Ashard20 · 19/08/2021 19:06

@Rhannion
That's so lovely - how he must have missed being with you in the last few weeks and so comforting that he could go back to being in his proper place.

Tiredmum12389 · 19/08/2021 19:13

Balonzette

An old friend of mine lived alone... her house 100% looked out for her. No idea what it was, I'm sure there were spirits there as numerous sightings from various people had been discussed. However it felt like the house was watching you the moment you walked in. I would keep her dog very close by for comfort.

I had the same thing happen at my aunts house. So weird and unnerving.
Happylittlethoughts · 19/08/2021 19:40

I was upstairs one night watching the movie White Noise . The main character is grieving the sudden loss of his wife and tries to contact her through EVP.
In one scene the character comes downstairs to make breakfast and his radio switches on and does that search through the stations/ white noise. It's meant to be sign from his wife.
Well I kinda half muttered half thought " Well no one obviously cared enough to do that for me!"
Within 2 seconds white noise blasted out in our top landing. I almost peed the bed! It was so noisy I thought it'd wake the kids so panicking (and freaked) II leapt out of bed and called DP up. He tracked it down to a walkie talkie that had switched on in a toy box in my youngest's room (She was a spooky one herself).
Couldn't really work out how it had switched on ...or why it made that constant white noise at that time.
Obviously, hedging my bets, I apologised to my dearly departed loved ones and assured them I did indeed know they loved me.

sealedwithX · 19/08/2021 19:42

Fairly often I will have a dream and the following day it will happen. Spooked me at first, now it doesn't bother me as much.

LaLaLoopsyLoo · 19/08/2021 19:55

@Loubiemoo because it’s so time consuming reading a single letter? There was no need to leave such a dickhead comment.

I went on a French exchange in the mid 90s. My French pen friend gave up her bed for me to sleep in during the stay. The first night I woke up as I felt something scampering across the bed, across my legs, like a cat or something. Turned the light on. Nothing there. Tried to doze off again and it happened again and I nearly shat myself and screamed out. Nobody came. I turned the light on and eventually managed to get out of bed. I looked under the bed and everywhere in that room. The French mum must have heard me and popped her head in. I told her I thought I saw a cat and she calmly said that they had had a small dog who had passed away a few weeks back and he used to sleep in this room with the pen friend.
