Is it more common to return to your maiden name if you have not had kids

Just wondering really if when people divorce is it more common to return to your maiden name if they have had not had children? A friend of mine who does not have kids is divorcing her husband after around 5 years of marriage and is going to return to her maiden name once her divorce is finalized.

I guess there's no reason not to in that case. When you have kids, you may want to keep the same surname as them?

My Mum has kept her married name but she was married longer than she had her maiden name.

Length of the marriage as well could be something that perhaps has an effect on whether to keep your married name or not
