To wear earplugs at the gym?

I go to the gym nearly every day to do a class or two. There's one instructor who does great classes but the music is so loud that I get headaches and genuinely worry about getting permanent hearing damage. I'm too much of a wuss to ask him to turn it down so I was thinking about wearing earplugs, like I would to a festival. Then I started worrying about getting really sweaty ears and having one pop out mid-move...

WIBU to do this?

I was thinking about this the other day in new spin class. Instructor is beside speaker so dont think they realise how loud it is

I wonder whether this chap actually has hearing loss so can't hear it. I went to the loo at one point - across a corridor and two sets of fire doors - and could hear it like it was playing in the toilets.

I actually have ringing in my ears and the class was 4 hours ago.

Do it - I wear earplugs when I go to the cinema, as I find it unbearably loud.

You are going to have to tell him, if it's making your ears ring, it must be damaging your hearing?

Could you email the gym to tell them rather than tell the instructor? I'm sure you're not the only one who's ears are ringing afterwards if it's that loud.

You can get earplugs that have a plastic band on them to keep them in your ears.

Yanbu.
I've always avoided a teacher at our gym who plays music too loud. She'd be yelling at us to do something and I could never hear her.
