DS wants an eyebrow piercing!

DS is 15, his style has changed a lot recently, which I don't have an issue with this, but recently he's been going on about want an eyebrow piercing, apparently he can have it but needs parental consent.

He came back from his dads, and told me his dad said yes, I spoke to ex and he told me he'd said no and that he told DS he probably wouldn't be allowed it at school. DS also told ex I said yes.

I asked DS why he lied and he told me that we should let him as its what he wants and he’d be paying for it.

Are we BU by saying no?

I wouldn't bollock him at all.

He is after a reaction and drama.

So I'd check school policy and then say

I'm sure it would look great, but sadly school won't let it.
What a shame and be really low key.

When he pushes, turn it back to same thing - well, as soon as you are allowed it for school, and are 16, then you can go ahead and get it.

YANBU, although DS had his pierced just before lockdown last year, at the same age, he had been asking for a few months though, and I made it clear he'd have to face the consequences at school etc which he was fine with. They put him in isolation until it had healed, although we were in lockdown then anyway! He then never put it in for school, and he only started wearing it regularly in June after he'd finished school.

I've told DS that his school won't allow it and he said he doesn't care and we're being unfair by saying no and we're trying to control his life and he doesn't want to wait until he's 16.

He also seems quite angry at my ex for saying no as he usually let's DS have whatever he wants (although it's never been as serious as a piercing!)
