To help me with my Easyjet cock up!

I know people on here have a wealth of knowledge so please do you mind me asking for help?
Basically we had flights booked for Spain this weekend. When I booked them I assumed they could be transferred to a voucher if we didn't travel. But they can't. I can only change the flight.
We have alot booked next year already but could squeeze a city break in in the Easter hols. Would be 2 adults and an 11yr old child who gets bored easily. Also needs to be fairly cheap so Disneyland Paris out! Could do other European theme parks though but they need to be close enough to an airport that Easyjet flies to from Manchester!
Would also consider something like Eurocamp but would need indoor pool as it won't be warm enough for outdoors. And again issue is no car so proximity to an airport is important.
Anyone any suggestions so I don't lose all the money on flights?

I'm not sure of the current rules, sorry but are you not able to go to Spain?

FizzyPink · 16/08/2021 15:12

What about Budapest? It’s very cheap to visit and the outdoor thermal baths could be a fun afternoon out for 11 year old. We also did the open top bus while we were there which was good fun.

Don't know where Easyjet goes from Manchester, but how about Venice?

greyinganddecaying · 16/08/2021 15:17

Venice? Amsterdam?

PeonyTime · 16/08/2021 15:19

My then 8 and 10 yr olds had a blast in Amsterdam. Loads of different museums and child friendly activities.

Thanks. My friend has suggested Krakow? We can't go as booked a UK break after deciding couldn't be bothered with testing etc.
Thought the protection promise would mean a voucher to book in 12 months like we've had before. But it doesn't!

Barcelona, there is a big theme park and water park nearby.

bert3400 · 16/08/2021 16:47

Valencia...very similar to Barcelona but smaller. Has the biggest oceagraphic centre in Europe, also has the best Zoo (Bioparc) I've been too. Beautiful walks around the city on the dried up riverbed, which has been turned into a park and you can cycle the whole way round. A great indoor karting track . Fantastic beaches and a stunning historical old town . Moto GP circuit is not far out of the city, quite often something going on there .

Berlin - fantastic for all ages.
Köln-Bonn - near Fantasialand.

Europapark from Basel-Mulhouse? Vienna with the funfair?

LIZS · 16/08/2021 16:55

Verona for Lake Garda for Gardaland and waterparks?

Cherrychocchip · 16/08/2021 20:40

Thanks will check these out. Just wondering whether to hold out before I change the flights. Is Spain in danger of going on the red list? Or wouldn't thar happen until at least next week onwards?
Have visions of changing the flight then it being cancelled and I could have got a refund....

No I don’t think Spain is going to go on any red list - if anything, things have calmed down. Krakow is really great, one of my favourite cities but might not be the best for an 11 year old fun wise. We love Efteling in Holland but don’t know where nearest airport is. Also all of the centre parcs in Holland are such good value compared to UK.

Vgbeat · 16/08/2021 21:55

What about Salut, they have the big theme park there which is quite reasonable.

itsgettingwierd · 16/08/2021 22:18

Malaga?

The train goes straight from airport right along the coast all the way to fenguirola.

Malaga has open top buses etc and further down the coast they have aquariums, Hipparchus, water park etc.
It won't be cold during Easter.

itsgettingwierd · 16/08/2021 22:19

That should say bio park - have no idea what my iPad thought I wanted to write!

There's also trivoli park
