I have been using the Pregnancy plus app since I found out I was pregnant as I like looking at the size comparisons for a bit of a fun and quite like the weekly updates when they give you information about what your baby can now do and what developmental stage they are at.
However, this week one of the things that it says in the information about your baby is that you should "avoid caffeine to help prevent preterm labour". I've attached a screenshot of it too for the context.
So AIBU to think that this is a very damaging statement? I know the caffeine in pregnancy research is difficult to analyse but the studies that showed risk of preterm birth were in rats where they were giving something mad like the equivalent to someone drinking 100 cups of coffee a day (read this in the Emily Oyester book). The NHS also advises to limit (not avoid) to approx 200 mg a day. I just thought it could be quite damaging for a mum to be to read who then happened to go into preterm labour through no fault of her own and she then blames herself?
So AIBU to contact them and suggest an alternative wording?
