I think my nearest passport office is Liverpool, if that makes any difference.

Did you apply online? I renewed mine online (with a name change so had to send marriage certificate) and got it back a week after they received my documents.

tobedtoMNandfart · 15/08/2021 19:26

Yep. Bootle. I got mine back this week in under a fortnight

tobedtoMNandfart · 15/08/2021 19:26

Mine was a straight renewal

Kazziek · 15/08/2021 19:36

Straight online renewal - one week from posting off the old passport to receiving the new one

Makingabreakforit1 · 15/08/2021 20:25

Thanks for the responses. I didn't mean to add a voting option! I haven't submitted it yet but had read that it could take 10 weeks so was wondering if I need to pay for the fast track option. I haven't got anything booked yet but it would be a pain if I didn't get it back til the end of October - especially as I also rely on it for anything that I have to show ID for.

Husband just renewed his online, got it back in a week. Liverpool is our nearest too.

riotlady · 15/08/2021 20:45

Mine took 4 weeks and 6 for my partner but he needed an interview

MajesticWhine · 15/08/2021 20:50

DD just did hers - it took 3 weeks.

BatShitBitchChops · 15/08/2021 20:53

My renewal with name change took a week. Sons renewal took a week. First passport for daughter they have had over a month and are being a nightmare! Because I was married previously, reverted to my maiden name on divorce but not by deed poll, and now married to her dad they are making me jump through hoops to prove I am actually who I say even though they've just done my passport so must accept I'm me 😂 saying I need a deed of variation or something from a solicitor but when I called they said I don't for my birth name and its not been my name for 4 years anyway! So basically, if straight forward it should be only a week or so, if not, prepare for a slog.

Passport renewal www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4294044-Passport-renewal

I was lucky and got DS' renewal back in 11 days. Others have had to cancel holidays due to delayed applications. This thread had some good up to date timelines

buckeejit · 15/08/2021 22:22

Irish ones are 9 months!

Fl0w3ry · 15/08/2021 22:26

My DH did his online a few weeks ago and it took a week, we were really surprised it was so quick.

RuleOfCat · 15/08/2021 22:34

@buckeejit

Irish ones are 9 months!
What exactly do you mean by that? You think an Irish passport is taking 9 months to process? Because our experience has been that Irish passport renewals are incredibly quick these days - way quicker than UK passports. Both DH and DD renewed theirs online and it came through the post 5 days later both times - and we live at the other end of Europe, so it must have bern processed the next day. DD applied for her British renewal the same day as her Irish one, yet no sign of it several weeks later. She's not hugely bothered as she doesn't need it to travel immediately, but the whole process seemed much less efficient (yet more expensive) than the Irish passport service.
avamiah · 15/08/2021 22:37

I know you can pay extra at the post office for a fast track service but it’s pretty expensive.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 15/08/2021 22:38

Dh sent his off last week after it was checked in the Post office, it has changes on it.
Two days later got an email it's being processed no sign of it yet

GrandTheftWalrus · 15/08/2021 22:40

I applied on 18th June and I'm still waiting.
