Do you have a shark Hoover and is it any good?

We need a new Hoover. I'm looking at the shark anti hair wrap ones. I don't mind if it's corded or cordless I just want a good Hoover, we have carpets and Hoover daily. We have a dog but she doesn't really shed hair, but mine and daughter's long hair regularly gets wrapped around other hoovers!

We have had a dyson ball, hoover, vax and g tech so looking at shark this time but there are so many models to choose from so wise mumsnetters do you recommend sharks?? (I don't like Henry and can't really stretch to a Miele so just looking for shark recommendations)

I have a shark corded anti wrap and also a cordless…. Both absolutely fantastic hoovers.. g tech air ram K9 was great but these…. Far better! Easy to clean.. you do get a little “wrapped up” but absolutely nothing compared to other hoovers. Expensive, but in my opinion, well worth it. Look out for “deals”. 👍🏻

MeredithGreyishblue · 15/08/2021 14:06

I don't rate my cordless Shark. It's a wet lettuce. And scared of hard work. And it blocks at every joint.
Much prefer my Gtech Air Ram! Grin

AllTheBs · 15/08/2021 14:10

I have the cordless anti hair wrap one and it's mediocre at best. Not worth the price tag in my opinion. Had a Vax Pet one before that, half the price but twice as powerful.

nc8765 · 15/08/2021 14:11

I have a corded shark. Don't rate it, sorry.

JadeSeahorse · 15/08/2021 14:11

I have a cordless Liftaway which is fantastic although doesn't have the anti hair wrap. It is 3 years old now and no issues at all apart from a squeak when it was 3 months old. Rang Shark Customer service and I had a whole new bottom section in less than 48 hours. 😁

My dd has the cordless anti hair wrap stick which is great but I think better suited to hard floors which she has.

WorraLiberty · 15/08/2021 14:14

I have the corded anti-hair wrap and it's honestly the best vacuum cleaner I've ever had.

I bought it mostly for the stairs because it has the lift away bit which has been a Godsend.

A lot of people told me to steer clear of the cordless, plus the cord is so long anyway that it goes all the way to the top of the stairs/landing.

CantStandMeow · 15/08/2021 14:14

Our Shark was bloody useless. We have a Henry (technically a Hetty) that I bloody love

Aria20 · 15/08/2021 14:14

Mixed reviews like everything I guess.

Henry is the best, but big and cumbersome. Dyson best of the cordless, but expensive. Shark middle ground, but can be frustrating as it's not all that. Vax is useless....which makes me a total anti-vaxer

Theunamedcat · 15/08/2021 14:18

I have a shark antiwrap supposed to be great for pets its shite utter utter shite I bought a reconditioned Dyson big ball the day before I got it I hoovered with the shark rubber broomed the carpet hoovered again I thought it was decent ran over 8t with the Dyson (small bedroom) boom container full so I hoovered downstairs with the shark and again with the Dyson it was like a colour changing advert ffs I spent £200 on a shark £200 on the dyson and the Dyson is worth its weight in gold the shark is useless

DurhamDurham · 15/08/2021 14:21

I really like our Shark vacuum cleaner, much better than our previous Dyson. The only downside is the stupidly small canister which has to be emptied much more frequently than previous vacuum cleaners.
It's really powerful and picks up every speck of dust.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/08/2021 14:27

Shark Rocket - utter shite . It deposited a pile on grit on the carpet when switched off
Blocked and I had to poke it with a bamboo stick (t clear it not to whack it Grin )
Only advantage was the long cord

I have a Halo Capsual now which is cordless , bagged and very lightweight . Works a dream.

Interesting though that "Hoover" is a brand name but used as the go to name for any vacuum cleaner and the verb to hoover .

HelenHywater · 15/08/2021 14:28

It's absolutely crap. Don't buy one! I made the mistake of getting one as so many posters here love them.

in the end I did find a bargain Miele which I much prefer.

MonkeyJam · 15/08/2021 14:29

I bought the anti hair wrap couple of months ago. Erm it's not anti hair wrap lol and if you ask me the suction has halved already. I've cleaned the filter like they suggested and no change. Only used it a handful of times. I do not recommend

I disagree completely. It's especially good for the car.

If you get one I'd recommend you get a spare battery if you can afford it.

54321nought · 15/08/2021 14:30

I would say perfectly adequate but I have the pet hair one, and it doesn't particularly help with pet hair. Its ok apart from that

makingmyway10 · 15/08/2021 14:31

Shark are awful , mine gets blocked every time I vacuum. Suction is rubbish. I have only had it a year and have replaced it with a Miele . Would not recommend.

tiredanddangerous · 15/08/2021 14:32

I've recently bought a cordless shark to replace my Miele cat and dog and I much prefer the shark.

LokiOfAsgard · 15/08/2021 14:33

Corded liftaway anti hair wrap here too. Game changer. I have a £500 Miele that languishes in the airing cupboard because I prefer the shark.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 15/08/2021 14:35

I have a top of the range cordless shark and I'm not a big fan of it. We're in the countryside so need it to deal with gravel and mud that gets brought in from outside. It just doesn't cope at all, it frequently gets blocked and even when not blocked as soon as I turn it off loads of stuff falls back to the floor where the suction isn't enough to make it to the dust bin. It's not even a year old and I'm looking at replacing it with something that works.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 15/08/2021 14:35

Hated my cordless shark. Piece of shit. You need to find the thread entitled 'ode to my shark how much I hate thee'. Numerous posters hating them so much. It's hilarious I'll try find it. Smile

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 15/08/2021 14:37

Ode to my Shark Vacuum cleaner - how do I hate thee? Let me count the ways http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4120519-Ode-to-my-Shark-Vacuum-cleaner-how-do-I-hate-thee-Let-me-count-the-ways

Here it is. Grin

gerispringer · 15/08/2021 14:40

I’m staying in a holiday cottage which has a Shark- it’s sooo heavy I can hardly push it . I have a Halo at home which is much lighter and I use it for a quick run round. I also have a corded Miele when I want a proper clean!

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 15/08/2021 14:42

Shark is rubbish. We’ve had ours replaced under warrantee as previous one just stoped working at about 10 months old.
The new one is about the same age now as even though it’s supposedly the updated version it’s starting to look like it’s going the same way. I don’t know if I can be bothered to go through all the palaver that I had last time with customer services. They were useless it took months and threatening to go to small claims to sort it.

I have a vax power blade that I as so much cheaper and so much better and a coffee Miele cat and dog which is the best but it’s bagged so I don’t use it as much as the bags are a pain to be honest.
