I have an infected finger. I am on antibiotic (flucloxacillin). As soon as I noticed the finger was infected I went straight to the doctor. That was on Thursday evening. The finger does not feel too bad but a bit sore but I can type and do stuff and I keep it covered up. I stupidly tried to squeeze the puss out of the finger which I know I should not have done. I knew I had to act quickly and I do not usually suffer from PSTD but many years ago when I was about 12 I got my thumb infected after shutting it in a door. I remember it as if it was yesterday. I got taken to hospital by a teacher and at the time it was not infected. It became infected and was not treated properly and then the infection went as far as the bone. I had to have surgery to scrape the infection off the bone. Unfortunately it became infected again, and the second time it went into the bone and I had to have surgery again to remove the part of the infected bone. So the tip of the thumb has no bone, but I can still use the thumb to its full capacity and have full feeling. It just looks a bit distorted and the nail never grew back properly and instead of growing along the thumb it grow back thick and stopped growing altogether. It was a traumatic experience because I could have lost my thumb. I do not want this to ever happen again so that is why I went straight to the doctor. I do not mean to scare anyone on here but I have read old threads where people dont get antibiotics immediately. Infections are serious and need urgent treatment. You cannot treat them yourself. You need to find good medical care.
At the time my mum said to the hospital..... if my daughter loses her thumb I will sue this hospital and expose you in the local paper.
