What makes you notice someone?

I am a straight woman but I never notice or look at men - a beautiful woman is much more likely to turn my head.

Shopping today I saw the most stunning lady - very dark hair, dressed in straight jeans, slip on shoes and a baggy but tidy white shirt and was wearing the most incredible diamonds on her hand. Whatever 'it' is - she has it!

Am I alone in appreciating stylish / lovely women more than men?!

I can appreciate 'beautiful' women (its not always conventional beauty that I love the look of) but I don't think I notice women more than men. I think I see men and women differently. I'm more likely to notice an artistically beautiful woman, and a very 'good looking' man.

I'm a straight woman, but I always notice someone who has the X factor , be it man or woman. Some can just pull off any look at all ( lucky things!)
Wished I could.

TabithaTiger · 14/08/2021 14:40

I'm a straight woman but I barely notice men if I'm honest. Women are generally more interesting to look at. I guess, because I might appreciate their dress sense, or their hair style/ make up in a way I wouldn't with a man.

Galaxyinmypocket · 14/08/2021 14:44

I notice both. Women if they have good clothes and style or really beautiful hair. Men I notice their bodies and the way they walk.

SquirryTheSquirrel · 14/08/2021 14:47

I notice everyone because I'm a people-watcher. I find ordinary people more interesting than unusual or exceptionally attractive people. I will look at, say, a middle-aged woman (like me) and wonder what her life is like, and decide whether I like what she's wearing or not.

BarefootHippieChick · 14/08/2021 14:49

For me it's either someone dressed in a very cool and unusual way (I notice clothes before I ever notice faces) or very eye-catching tattoos.

VladmirsPoutine · 14/08/2021 14:52

I notice people who look 'well put together'. By this I don't mean e.g. expensive clothes etc but more of a certain kind of demeanour in which they carry themselves and it all just looks good. That said I do notice women more than men.

imaginethemdragons · 14/08/2021 14:57

People watcher here too.

I have envy of gorgeous women with nice clothes, nice makeup, hairstyles and confidence.
I’m fat, grumpy and old now.

Men I notice less, but I did see an ordinary bloke yesterday in shorts & t shirt that just looked so smart. He was just walking a dog but he looked really nice.

Love watching folk.

ExamStress2021 · 14/08/2021 14:59

I notice women more too. I sometimes think I’d love to tell them how much I like their hair or say something like ‘what a lovely dress’ because I think we women need to build each other up and know I’d love it if someone paid me a compliment. I never dare though in case it seems weird which seems a shame. Do you ever compliment a stranger?

passionfruitpizza · 14/08/2021 15:01

I don't really notice/care much about clothes/ fashion/makeup. On men and women I guess I notice and appreciate muscle the most.

Was in Bluewater today.she was an elder teen/early twenties ( in M and S).She had a pair of flared jeans on, and looked great with a modern 70s vibe.

I also recall seeing someone on Kings Cross station a while back. She had a black jumper with red stripes. What I recall though was her lipstick - a bold red colour. It just looked so good!

Oblomov21 · 14/08/2021 15:07

I notice beautiful women, if they are polished, naturally beautiful, great figure. I enjoy seeing such women.

Standrewsschool · 14/08/2021 15:07

@ExamStress2021

I saw a doctor recently and at the end complimented her on her stunning blue dress. Love to have the courage to compliment complete strangers though.

the80sweregreat · 14/08/2021 15:23

Lady I know has a unique style, so different and it suits her. I've yet to find my style at all ( I just look like a bag of potato's , mostly )

ShinyMe · 14/08/2021 15:27

I notice fun clothes and happy people, I think. I complimented a woman the other day who was bouncing along with a big grin and multicoloured rainbow dungarees and purple hair. I said "I love your dungarees!" as she bounced past and she did two thumbs up at me and bounced a bit more. I like bonkers people.

LadyJaye · 14/08/2021 15:35

Lots of things, but I am always quite impressed by people - male or female - wearing linen clothing and not looking like they've just fallen out of a laundry basket or pitched up after three months in Goa.

I think looking stylish and elegant in linen for more than ten minutes is a special skill, and I'd love to know how they do it.

marly11 · 14/08/2021 16:58

I think I do notice women more - perhaps because in general amongst the people I know, women make a bit more effort with their appearance! Also now, post 50, men seem to me far less attractive in how they present themselves.

ShinyMe · 14/08/2021 17:50

Thinking about it, I noticed dogs far more than people. I often stop to fuss dogs and couldn't tell you later if the human was male or female.

ohthatbloodycat · 14/08/2021 17:53

I'm the same, OP. I like cock but can appreciate a beautiful woman.

Me too! My husband has been jealous of me checking out/staring at blokes before when I’ve actually been eyeing up their dog and not even noticed who’s walking it
