Police or SS?

DS is 16, he goes to his dads regularly, ex does drink a lot but I don't think he did when he had DS.

I'm currently working away, last night DP messaged me and told me that he picked DS up from his dads as DS told him his dad was drunk and pushed him into a wall and his hand was hurting, DP told me he'd take DS to hospital today and get his hand checked.

Would you report this to the police or SS? I'm asking about SS as older children are in the house (not exs biological children) and they witnessed ex pushing DS and one of them told him to leave DS alone but ex told them to shut up. I'm not sure where exs partner was at the time.

Both.

He is 16. He is old enough to make the decision not to go to his dad's anymore. If the other children in the house are older - are they over 18 and therefore adults?

No they're younger than DS. I meant other not older!

What does DS want to do? You might find if he is honest with the A and E staff, they report to the police for him.
Ultimately it is assault. Hand injuries can be bloody difficult to treat as well.

Report it to the police. He was assaulted. SS are not a front line service and cannot respond quickly but police can.

This. Police will refer. Also make sure it's explained fully at a&e too.
