Hen Party

It's a friend from works hen party tomorrow and we're all travelling and staying in an apartment a few hours away (14 of us who all work together) and one of the girls who is going has been at work today and complaining of not feeling well, basically covid symptoms, she hasn't gone for a PCR test but has said she's done a lateral flow and is negative. Another girl has already said she's not going because of it as when she had covid all her laterals were negative and she has the same symptoms. Just feel bad if I say I'm not going because she's waited so long because of the lockdowns and it's very last minute! What do I do?!

OP posts:

She needs to get a PCR test. Can she join you later if it is negative? Appreciate that will be more expensive for her.

MadeForThis · 14/08/2021 07:58

If she's sick she shouldn't go. Covid or not.

This! Why would you go when you are ill with anything? Her fault for not getting the PCR to put everyone’s mind at rest. She shouldn’t go!
RuthW · 14/08/2021 08:30

She can't go. If she does the bride may be isolating or ill at the time of her wedding.

millenialblush · 14/08/2021 08:40

@avamiah they are not spot on, hence the PCR testing being needed. Also the OP says the lateral tests have been done...

tactum · 14/08/2021 09:07

Same here, negative lateral flow, PCR test taken within the next hour was positive.
Surely apart from anything, these days people who are poorly should be isolating rather than circulating whatever they may have - covid or not - to other people?
Isn't that one of the lessons we've learnt over the last 18 months? Don't try n carry on regardless, whether to be a martyr at work, or indeed to enjoy your friends hen do - do everyone a favour and bloody stay at home!

StarDrawers · 14/08/2021 09:15

She's so selfish. What if someone ends up intensive care.

StarDrawers · 14/08/2021 09:20

Tell the chief bridesmaid and possibly even the bride

Letthelightoflove · 14/08/2021 10:13

I think OP has decided to go so probably won’t come back to update us on that (as she knows she’ll get flamed).

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 14/08/2021 10:30

She is being a massive twat. Pcr tests now are really quick both to book and then to receive the results. I'd suggest to the bride that no one is going to enjoy themselves or want to go if they know there is someone potentially covid positive there

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 14/08/2021 10:35

Not a chance I’d go and the person with symptoms should be getting a pcr test. LFT tests aren’t meant to be used when there are symptoms.

No one needs a hen do so that part wouldn’t bother me, people’s health and not spreading it around if it is covid is more important.

Why would she get flamed for choosing to go? Presumably she's a grown adult who's already spent a lot of money for this weekend away... she's not the one in the wrong if she does go.
