To buy him a birthday present?

DD is 11, she's currently in hospital due to a surgery, she met a boy the other day and he's about 12/13, he's been lovely to her and he's made DD feel settled (not his job I know! But he's been kind to her). He told DD his birthday is on Sunday, WIBU to buy him a birthday present from DD? Or would it be too inappropriate?

Definitely do it!

Talk to your dd and if she wants you to, buy him what she tells you to. It needs to come from her, with you facilitating.

A small token gift would be fine I think.

I think that's a sweet thing to do. When DS was in hospital one childs dad bought presents for every child on the ward.

I would buy a small present, perhaps something edible if he is allowed

You need to ask your DD first
