That it is possible to actually fold a fitted sheet?

At 37yrs old I've only just discovered this, and there have been times when I have been seriously p*d off with the state of my laundry cupboard, and the half rolled kind of screwed up pile of sheets!

Why do I feel as though this is not common knowledge??

Amrapaali · 13/08/2021 08:28

Yes. And as usual it as MN that taught me. A year ago I think

But agree it needs to be common knowledge Smile

BoysRule · 13/08/2021 08:30

I think that's an awful lot of effort, looks complicated to learn. I'm happy to stuff them in a pillow case.

DoTheNextRightThing · 13/08/2021 08:33

Oh I fold mine. It's just that by 'fold', I mean bundle up and stuff in the cupboard.

StCharlotte · 13/08/2021 08:35

I used to run a B&B. I can fold fitted sheets. I can't tell you how because I do it without thinking but it's much simpler than that!

ShaunaTheSheep · 13/08/2021 08:36

I also learnt it on MN years ago, as instructed by Martha Stewart.

Rabbitheadlights · 13/08/2021 08:36

@BoysRule I know, but it's really not! It's easy. I put the full set of bedding inside a pillowcase but it's always irritated me that I can't get a nice square neat folded pile because of said sheets!

Snap@DoTheNextRightThing that's kind of where I was at.

Oooh I must try this. I saw a method a few years ago, but I couldn't be arsed watching the whole video, so do a very lazy approximation or the start of this method then some random folding, but this looks pretty simple 😄 woo hoo neat sheets, what a treat 😄

Rabbitheadlights · 13/08/2021 08:39

Seems its more widely known than I thought, no idea why this snippit has completely passed me by up to this point.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/08/2021 08:39

Thank you, but I won’t be needing that.
Best tip I ever had as regards bedding, probably from MN, was to fold (any way you like) duvet cover, bottom sheet and one pillowcase, and stuff them all into the other pillowcase.
Brilliant, esp. for anyone like me, with an airing cupboard that’s far too small.

Might add that I only ever iron pillowcases, and then only for guests.

Rabbitheadlights · 13/08/2021 08:40

@misskatamari woo hoo neat sheets, what a treat it really is.

OP posts:
Rabbitheadlights · 13/08/2021 08:42

@gettinglikemymother this is exactly what I did but the pile was never neat, because of the annoying unfoldable sheets!!

OP posts:
Eggsley · 13/08/2021 08:46

This is how I fold fitted sheets, learnt from MN about a year ago!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/08/2021 09:57

How are they ‘unfoldable’, @Rabbitheadlights?

OK, not beautifully neat and perfect, but I manage mine well enough, and nobody’s going to be inspecting them and giving me marks out of ten!

Vodka1 · 16/08/2021 17:18

I had no idea, I'm super impressed!!

I mean i will probably try it once and then just continue to half arsed fold and throw away but that's pretty cool to watch!

Cryalot2 · 16/08/2021 17:22

Dd does it all the time, sometimes it works and sometimes not, but life is way too short to worry.

PhoenixFreesias · 16/08/2021 17:24

This reminds me that life is too short to stuff a mushroom.

revampneeded · 16/08/2021 17:30

Isn't it fab? Once you get the knack it's not much more time than ordinary folding. And ending up with a perfectly rectangular parcel makes it all worth it if you're OCD like me

OurChristmasMiracle · 16/08/2021 17:31

Whispers. I’ve known for a number of years Blush

NeverDropYourMooncup · 16/08/2021 17:31

God, that's far too much like hard work.

You just pick up one corner and poke your hand into the 'peak', then flip the next corner over it, repeat for the other two and you're done.

I managed to teach DP how to do it in about 30 seconds flat - and this is a man who I have to go to him and point where things are as, like a cat is always on the wrong side of any closed door, everything is always on his other left and right.

Same with getting King size covers on the duvet. Spend 35 minutes getting lost inside the cover or wash and dry it inside out, stick your hands in to the far corners, grab the two corners of the duvet, flip and you're done.

MrsFin · 16/08/2021 17:31

I can fold fitted sheets too. Anthem Redfern taught me, and everyone else who watched her housekeeping programme some years ago. It's easy.

sbhydrogen · 16/08/2021 17:36

That's a really complicated way to fold a fitted sheet. Just fold in the messy corners to make straight edges, then fold in half, fold in half again and then fold into thirds. Job done.

revampneeded · 16/08/2021 17:38

If anyone's still confused how to do it, this is the way... Grin

Jasmine11 · 16/08/2021 17:42

I didn't know this OP and now I do I'll continue just vaguely folding them up in a lump and shoving them in a cupboard - life's too short for that kind of thing :)
