To ask which antidepressants have least sexual side effects

I've been 2 (fluoxetine and citalopram) and both killed my sex drive/ability to orgasm (which is very important to me) and also made me fat.

Any others that are good for depression with a big smack of anxiety thrown in? I'd love to try wellbutrin but seems it's not allowed in the UK....

Everyone reacts differently OP so personal anecdata is useless.

Speak to your doctor.

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 12/08/2021 13:14

What Lockheart said. Citalopram is fine for me. It's just trial and error.

PussGirl · 12/08/2021 13:28

They can all potentially cause problems but changing is a good idea as different ones affect different people differently

Horizon44 · 12/08/2021 13:32

I would love to know the answer too OP. I recently same off sertraline and this was a big factor.

Rinoachicken · 12/08/2021 13:33

I was on venlafaxine for 15yrs which was horrendous but the only thing that worked for me. 12months ago I switched to Vortioxitine - very very few side affects even listed and I have had none of them - has worked as well as the venlafixine for me.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 12/08/2021 13:50

I had to stop taking venlafaxine as it caused spontaneous orgasms Blush

DazedandConcerned · 12/08/2021 13:59

Citalopram. I’m still as horny as an 18 year old 🤣🤣

starstar84 · 12/08/2021 14:02

@Rinoachicken why was venlafaxine hurrendous?

😂 You'd think so wouldn't you but it was actually very awkward!

I'm waiting to talk to my GP because of sexual side effects too.

For me, mirtazapine (not an SSRI) didn't affect my sex life badly like citalopram and venlafaxine did. I gained weight on Mirtazapine though and not on the other 2.

I haven't found venlafaxine awful though am only on 75mg and a month in (think it's starting to help but not happy with the difficulty I now have reaching orgasm). I've had tiredness/fatigue, but altering timing of dose helped a bit. Nausea that wore off after first week. It's meant to be harder to come off, not tried yet, but I've felt ok after a delayed dose. Perhaps feel worse days later though!
