To think that my boss is a bully

I work in middle management. It's my first management position, and I was hired and then promoted into this role by my boss. He has many good qualities BUT

When things go wrong he is very aggressive. I think the way he asks people to explain what happened encourages finger pointing and creates a blame culture where people will put their energy into covering mistakes rather than learning from them.

He has belittled and blamed me for stuff in front of others, and he puts pressure on people to say what he wants to hear. I feel like I have to protect my team from this culture.

I think there is a fine line between being a tough boss and downright bullying. I wonder if I am being oversensitive.

Just tell him he isn't going to get the best from you or your staff by belittling you in public and being bombastic with staff in general.
Specifically tell him not to berate you again in front of others, you expect a professional discussion in private.

Thank you. I will do that.

Great day also for a headhunting approach to have been made 😊
