An audible version of MumsNet? That would be good, wouldn't it?

Just occurred to me after reading so many interesting threads on MumsNet how better it would be if I could just listen to them, while doing other stuff? Not sure how it would work, but have I just invented this Grin

OP posts:
WillYouDoTheFandango · 11/08/2021 19:54

Only if they were done in thick comedy accents like they used to be on Eurotrash.

Zarene · 11/08/2021 19:55

I feel like this is sort of the Fortunately podcast

Formaldeheidi · 11/08/2021 19:56

A MN podcast? I’d listen, but only with headphones…

AdoptedBumpkin · 11/08/2021 19:57

I was thinking the same.

I can't remember the post! But some theatre students did some online videos on Mumsnet. They were more nethuns though

LeggyLinda · 11/08/2021 20:00

There’s already apps and browser settings that can do this.
But, more importantly, where are these “interesting” threads? I feel I’m missing out

JoanWilderbeast · 11/08/2021 20:05

I'm thinking the MumsNet roundup to start with. An edited version minus posts who haven't bothered to Read The Full Thread, and repeat something said in the first few posts etc. A streamlined version with the same voiceover woman reading all posts?

OP posts:

Until you accidentally pull your headphones out and your phone blares BEST SEX TOYS FOR WOMEN across the office.

DewDew83 · 11/08/2021 20:27

I think Mumsnet have tried launching a podcast once or twice, but I guess it didn't catch on?

ProfSprout · 11/08/2021 20:30

There was a mumsnet Aibu podcast a while ago, I’m sure.

mnahmnah · 11/08/2021 20:32

It would be bloody hilarious. It would also clarify the tone and avoid misunderstanding for a lot of posts!

Yesitsbess · 11/08/2021 20:34

I am 100% doing this. In a range of comedy accents. I have always wanted to say "naice" in full RP..

KatherineOfGaunt · 11/08/2021 20:34

On my Samsung Galaxy I can ask Google to read the web page and it reads the thread title, the OP username and all the posts underneath (Not the other username though)! I sometimes listen while I'm in the car waiting for someone - very entertaining!

Yesitsbess · 11/08/2021 21:20

I've enrolled others. Nominate a thread. Lord knows if it'll be any good.

TSSDNCOP · 11/08/2021 22:29

AIBU would sound like those rant mail screeches that Mrs Weasley sends Ron.

Nope. That's very unauthentic! Most of the threDs are posts of people who haven't read the fucking thread😂
plodalong12 · 11/08/2021 22:44

But the diagram threads wouldn’t make any sense.

ACPC · 11/08/2021 23:27

Ooh I don't know if I want a bunch of braying, sanctimonious fun sponges and their loud voices echoing around my kitchen op.

LemonTT · 11/08/2021 23:29

Will it capture the reality of women “literally shaking and crying”. Or the MN classic’s of tinkly laugh head tilt.

I also look forward the sound effects of any MIL stomping into a room before they huff and puff.

TSSDNCOP · 12/08/2021 00:05

@SchrodingersImmigrant yes! You could wind up with 200 "cancel the cheques" before someone probably me bellows SHE CANCELLED THE FUCKING CHEQUE which could be a catastrophe if you're draining boiling veg at the time and jump out of your skin.

StoneofDestiny · 12/08/2021 00:14

No - I only look on here while listening to TV. Can't listen to two things at once.
