Aibu to be worried? Little lumps around groin/ovaries? under skin?

I'm not sure what it is but on the left side around my groin/(where the ovaries are I think?) I can feel little lumps/balls under the skin? They aren't painful to touch and you can't see them like protruding you can only feel them under the skin like little individual beads almost I don't know how to describe it. I occasionally get a pain in my groin and sometimes sex can be uncomfortable maybe mildy painful at times. But I am so worried. I have the implant so periods are irregular anyway but for the most part every 4-7weeks and no irregular bleeding or anything like that I've just had a smear done last week still waiting for the results but I honestly cannot shake the feeling that it doesn't feel right. I've never really noticed it before and I don't even know how I first felt them. I know no one can give medical advice and I will probably call the gp tomorrow but I'm so scared. I have had a look on Google but I don't know if I'm describing it right. Has anyone had this before? I can't help but think the worst

Are you sure it's not just cellulite?

Reallyreallyborednow · 11/08/2021 19:35

In the crease of your groin?

Sound like lymph nodes. They swell when you have a virus, infection etc. If you’re otherwise well you probably have a simple virus.

They’re no where near your ovaries though.

You have lymph nodes everywhere. Neck ones often swell if you have a sore throat, cold etc. It just means your immune system is fighting something.

I don't think it's cellulite I have that on my legs and you can't actually see it you can only feel it when I press down on the area if that makes sense.

Are they in a line? Like a line of beads? I think there are lymph nodes there- sometimes they can flare up if you’re fighting something off or feeling a bit under the weather. They do for me anyway! Disclaimer- I am not a medical professional so this is just my experience.

HavelockVetinari · 11/08/2021 19:36

No-one on here can answer that unfortunately, not even medics - you need to go to your GP and have a F2F appt.

You have lymph nodes in your groin just like in your neck (swollen glands when ill type things,)

Yes I would probably describe it as the crease between the privates and the leg sort of towards the hip bone. 🙈 Thinking about it now it probably definitely isn't the ovaries I guess I literally just assume the worst in everything 😭 joys of being a pessimist. What would I need to do if its swollen lymph nodes? Is that still something to see the doctor for?

Definitely not ovaries.

Reallyreallyborednow · 11/08/2021 19:43

See the nhs link i posted- general advice on what to do. I wouldn’t normally worry about it unless I had other, more concerning symptoms, or they’d been swollen for more than two weeks.

Thank you for the link I'm starting to think more than likely are swollen lymph nodes. I will admit I've had it about 5weeks (that I know of I've never noticed or felt them before) I've just been too scared to call docs but I'll call tomorrow just in case.

Worth getting checked but on my lower abdomen and groin and chest armpit area I've got lots of little bumps, not visible (apart from one on my boob), the ones on my groin feel like you described like tiny little beads under my skin.

Ive had it all checked out and was just told I had really fibrous bumpy tissue 🤷‍♀️. I was reassured it was nothing sinister and doesn't give an increased risk of cancer.

Anyway, worth getting checked just to be sure.

MrsFlinch · 11/08/2021 20:48

Have you lost weight recently, because my lymph nodes were more prominent when I was at a lower weight. Scared me first time I felt it until I realised they were on both sides and googled.

Now I’ve got a bit of extra padding, they’re not prominent but if you press firmly you can feel them.

DanglingMod · 11/08/2021 20:51

I get swollen lymph nodes in my groin if I cut my legs shaving or bruise my knee or anything like that. It's your immune system at work. You should get them checked out if they don't go down after a few weeks though.

rainyskylight · 11/08/2021 21:02

I can feel my groin lymphnodes pretty easily. Maybe try and find a diagram online of where they should be and compare with your little lumps.

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 11/08/2021 21:05

Have you had the covid vaccine recently op?

My lymph nodes were swollen for a couple of weeks afterwards.

GoodnightGrandma · 11/08/2021 21:09

Fat is like beans.

SmileyClare · 11/08/2021 21:13

Your ovaries are too deep inside you to feel a small lump on them!

That said you shouldn't have to put up with groin pain and pain during sex. Doctors have heard it all before and won't be fazed at all by you describing your symptoms. I would advise making an appointment after your smear result.

GoodnightGrandma · 11/08/2021 21:17

Your cervix moves up and down during your cycle. It’s probably that that’s causing the discomfort.

Bilingualspingual · 11/08/2021 21:20

I had this and was worried and got referred. It was my lymph nodes I could feel and they were perfectly normal, and normal-sized. I’m sure you are ok.

BlueBellsArePretty · 11/08/2021 21:20

Hello as a hypochondriac I feel your pain. I once went to the doctor as I was convinced I had lumps in my neck and boob doctor reassured me it felt fine. She told me to always use the flat of my three fingers to feel as generally if it can't be felt by the three fingers flat then it's nothing to worry about. She told me not to check with my fingertips as you'll always feel lumpy bumps. M

Thisneedstobeannonymous · 11/08/2021 21:25

Thank you all for your replies I'm pretty sure now that they are swollen lymph nodes. Given they have been there quite some time I'll speak to my doctor and make sure it's normal I definitely feel a bit more at ease now
