Finding the summer hols so boring.

My eldest just wants to be on a screen all day. My youngest just wants to be out meeting with friends but no one seems to be about. I’ve text a few people and tried to get a date in for a meet up but no reponses. Or response that they’d get back to me with a date but it’s been a week. She’s so bored of me and the park. 4 more weeks to go. 😢

I know how you feel. Am trying hard to be inventive & make the summer holidays fun but feel like I'm failing. Have weeks stretching ahead with nothing much planned, unless you count hospital & dentist appointments.

I ask the 9yp to help me clean, he suddenly finds LOADS to do Currently making a picture story with a bunch of stencils. He made some cardboard loo roll guns yesterday and his cuddly toys had a shootout.

He writes a diary almost every day (went to the dog beach, got stung by a wasp, saw a fire engine ...) and he does maths everyday.

None of it is voluntary, but he can't be glued to Fucking Fortnite all day every day no matter how much he begs!

Oh god I feel you. I am SO bored.

I know what you mean. I’ve started reading the stack of books I kept putting off so I’ve managed to get through 8 books in a week. My older DC would be happy if I just let them sit on games all day every day. I’ve planned a few things but definitely not every day, some days (like today) they do mostly just sit on games. I’m not sweating it, they worked really hard during the lockdowns.

How old are they? Are there any activities/stay and play type things going on near you? My dc have been doing loads so no boredom here, just knackered with a massive pile of laundry and a desperate need for a trip to the loo on my own.

Can’t you plan some days out? What do your children like doing? Could you book go-karting, go ape, water park, that kind of thing??

Yes feel like this today as well. Not helped by the showers as well. Mine are older, teen and pre-teen and at the age of going anywhere with mum is not what they like.

I sent them out today to town to buy ice-cream together just to get them out of the house. Apart from that they have mainly been on their computers gaming with friends.

None of those things are local to us except go ape and they hate it as don’t like heights. We have done swimming and the beach and parks but youngest just wants her friends and is feeling quite lonely.
