Is it me or have roads got far busier?

I used to drive quite a bit on A-roads and motorways in the UK but stopped when I moved to a city. I've recently been driving quite a lot again for various reasons and the roads just seem so much busier than they were 10-15 years ago. Is it really the case or am I just imagining it?

Yanbu. There isn't as many buses and trains running as pre-lockdown so more people are having to drive/uber. The temporary cycle lames have all been taken away too after public/media backlash.

Yes the roads are busier. But they are also busier since lockdown ended - where is everyone going?

The old rush hour is ok now but it's much busier in the day.

Public transport seems to be currently lacking so everything is on the roads. I think people who used to get the train are now driving, at least where I am. Roads seem far busier that before Covid which is such a shame as I really enjoyed the empty roads.

Lockdown was lovely : the roads were clear at least !!

I know far more people work shifts nowadays but where is everyone going mid morning / mid afternoon? DH says the roads are just as busy at 6am and 7.30 pm too.
They want to build another 600 homes within half a mile of me, the roads can’t cope as it is.

Well at a guess - shopping, visiting friends or family, day trips (with it being school holidays) hospital appointments, dentist, hair dressers, community workers doing f2f visiting again to name just a few.
