Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place. I'm looking for recommendations of things to do in South Lakes (Barrow in Furness area). 2 adults and a baby. We are planning a visit to South Lakes Safari ... any other places worth a visit?

Thanks!

Aquarium of the lakes at Newby Bridge is pretty nice.

I had occasion to work on a project in this region a few years ago. My recommendation goes to the Bay Horse Hotel and Restaurant in Canal Foot LA129EL. On the approach (which goes past a factory), which is quite off putting. However the food there is some of the best I have had, and just beyond it there is a really quiet beach which has lots of unusual birds and other wildlife. Some very good walks around the region as well.

How old is the baby?

South Lakes Safari is probably better for older children unless the adults are really into animals?

Where are you actually staying? There's a big difference between e.g being at Newby Bridge or being in Barrow even if the distance doesn't look that far on a map.

There is the steam train at Haverthwaite that you can use to get to the aquarium.

There is The Cumbrian cow icecream farm and maize maze
