Toothache after covid vaccine?

tweeettypiie · 09/08/2021 09:44

I had 2nd moderna on Saturday and had all the typical side effects, I was quite poorly yesterday.

Fever, chills, aching, fatigue, vomiting, headache, pretty much everything listed as a normal side effect.

I now have toothache but can't pin point which tooth or area exactly. Just on my left side. It's more of a severe sensitivity than real pain. I never have toothache, teeth are always fine at checkups, never had more than 2 or 3 fillings.
Has anyone else experienced this after the vaccine? Or is this just a coincidence?

Could it just be that you are clenching your teeth as you are feeling ill? I often find that when I sleep badly (because I'm ill) or have a headache that leads to me clenching my teeth and jaw which causes temporary toothache

tweeettypiie · 09/08/2021 10:58

Possibly! It seems to be coming and going across all parts of my mouth now!

Yes, I had Pfizer and had 48hrs of all teeth aching and got 5 mouth ulcers. I think it is rare, I haven't heard of anyone else having this until now!

Could it be generalpain as your lymph nodes might be swollen and causing it.

VickyEadieofThigh · 09/08/2021 11:35

Do remember also that given the vast number of vaccines given, there will be a certain percentage of 'coincidental' ailments and conditions.

CoralFish · 09/08/2021 11:38

I suspect it's general muscle ache or swollen glands. My impacted wisdom tooth was mistaken for both an ear condition and swollen glands (mumps), so it's difficult to pinpoint/diagnose these things.

My gums are always the first indication I am run down.

It's not a toothache but sore gums.

I assume it's just your immune system reacting?

Chwaraeteg · 09/08/2021 12:08

Yes. I had my second Moderna 2 weeks ago and I've had toothache, soreness and mouth ulcers ever since. I'm up to date with my dental appointments - in fact, I saw a dentist 4 months ago who told me everything lookes good and not to come back for another year.

Chwaraeteg · 09/08/2021 12:09

Also, ditto on the fever, chills, aching and tiredness after the 2nd vaccine. I was felling quite smug after the 1st, having zero side effects!

ABet08x · 09/08/2021 12:16

I had Pfizer and I was also the same. It felt like all of my teeth were going to fall out and my gums felt like they were bleeding. Wore off after a week of excruciating pain!

Thanks everyone.

Sounds like it could go either way, so I will book a checkup just to be safe. I've not had one since way before the first lock down.

I had the exact same thing, and it last nearly a year. I had a tooth removed, 2 root canals, and it was only when my neurologist put me on Lyrica that things improved
