To ask whether anyone else has stopped anti depressants

I’ve stopped my anti depressants on my own without medical guidance. I feel fine. I was on a fairly low dose but for a few years. I don’t feel they’re doing much for me now and I’m sick of having no sex drive etc. I actually think I’m peri menopausal not depressed. I don’t want to go to the doctors at the moment so I’ve taken the decision upon myself. Have I made a mistake?

I was fed up of taking mine and gradually reduced my dose then stopped. I thought I’d be fine, I wasn’t and am taking them again. Don’t stop suddenly, gradually reduce your dose and if at any point you feel a return of your symptoms restart.
All this with the caveat that you should of course do this with your GP’s knowledge and support. Good luck.

Thank you. I’ll bear that in mind. I will let my doctor know by letter but I really want to see how I get on without them for a bit. They make me feel like a zombie

I’m not sure I should recommend it but I did do this. I was only on 20mg of fluoxetine so a fairly low dose anyway. Forgot to take them/forgot to get new prescription and had been feeling ok (had PND) so just sort of stopped. And was fine.
I told dr next time I went (for some thing else)

We can't tell you that, time will tell.

I have taken myself off mine and been ok for two years now.
