About Little One’s Hair

My daughter is almost 18 months and DH and I have been discussing her mad hair. She’s not got much, but jt basically a thin, slightly curly covering over her whole head. The bits round her ears are longer, and coming out in large, very whispy curls, so it’s got slight mullet vibes going on. We’re currently having a lighthearted argument over it so i thought I’d let Mumsnet wisdom prevail…

A) trim the longer bits over the ears so that it all grows at the same length and looks neater straight away.
B) accept that it’s going to look crazy for a bit, leave it to grow naturally and then we’ll be past the awkward stage quicker.

Both options are fine, I’m sure she won’t care either way. I’d just get it trimmed though.

Mullets are back in fashion Grin

However, I would trim and even it up.

I'd leave it.

Xmassprout · 07/08/2021 13:39

My eldest I trimmed it all to the same length. It was so thin and wispy it still looked a mess

My youngest we're currently opting to leave it. Her hair is curlier so don't want to make it worse.

If its curly, the longer the better as it gets naturally tamed by the weight. Also please please dont cut a fringe 🤣

Have you tried using baby conditioner to calm it a little, or detangle spray

girlmom21 · 07/08/2021 13:47

I'd leave it. My 2yo has curly hair and I know cutting it will make it wilder so we're just doing our best to tame it Grin

With a couple of mine, behind the ears tended to get really mucky as toddlers so with them, I'd keep hair short there for easier cleaning, but if that's not an issue then yes, leaving it so the weight can help and using plenty of conditioner/detangling spray is probably better.

Gather up what you can for a top knot....
