I'm in a dispute with my neighbour and the police are involved. I've just heard him threatening me if I call them again. He has made plans to break into my place and kill me. I don't have anywhere to go and everyone I ask tells me to call the police. Any ideas?

There is really no other idea than calling a police about the threat🤷

Speakuptomakeyourselfheard · 05/08/2021 19:52

Was he actually threatening you OP, or telling someone else that he would kill you if you called the police again? If he said it knowing you could hear him, or to your face, then I would definitely call the police and register what he has said. You should also tell them that he's threatened to break in and kill you, and that you're frightened, and ask for their advice.

Lockheart · 05/08/2021 20:00

You should of course call the police. If you are in danger then either he needs to be removed or you need to be put under protection. Tell them what he's said and that you're worried for your safety.

LuxOlente · 05/08/2021 20:07

It's not as if someone's going to pop along and give you a suggestion that is not 'call the police'. You call the police and advise them of the threats he had made.

neighbourproblem · 05/08/2021 20:15

Ok I'm on the chatline to the national helpline

Weird question… yes call the police.

Cocomade · 05/08/2021 20:15

100% call the police

billy1966 · 05/08/2021 20:27

Absolutely the police and stress thatvyou are terrified.

neighbourproblem · 06/08/2021 05:46

I contacted 999 and they took two and a half hours to get to me. They said there was nothing they could do as he wasn't making threats directly to my face (he wasn't in my property but screaming through the wall). I'm now homeless as I fled as he was threatening to smash into my place and kill me. I'm in a hotel.

You did the right thing. What's your housing situation?

Call the police?

He's not going to kill you .

(whats the back story?)

AngelDelightUk · 06/08/2021 07:01

Have the police not got a record of the complaints so far?

neighbourproblem · 06/08/2021 09:48

Housing situation is that I'm looking N a hotel and can't go back. Yes have crimecref from police since Feb.

Ponoka7 · 06/08/2021 09:51

Is he mentally ill or a career criminal? Could you have recorded the threats?
If you are that scared, it's best to move. Are you privately renting? What his situation?

Ponoka7 · 06/08/2021 09:53

@TwoAndAnOnion, people are killed or seriously injured by neighbours. People are more likely to be killed by people they know. Even getting attacked or doors kicked in, isn't nice. So don't be so dismissive.

SaltySheepdog · 06/08/2021 09:56

Are you renting, buying, living in council housing? What’s your living situation. How did this escalate?

HA. Neighbour move in and started stalking me (peering through windows, coming to my place uninvited etc) I made a complaint and he started making rape and death threats. I called the police again and he then started threatening to smash his way into my property and kill me. He was challenging me to call the police as he said he would use a brick to smash his way in or wait until he saw me on the street and 'kick my fucking head in'

I eventually dialled 999 but the police didn't come so I eventually packed some stuff and fled. Police came and met me and said there was nothing they could do so I found a cheap hotel. Have just come off the phone to the council housing dep and have an app with them later this afternoon.
