Back to school shopping with my dc today, youngest dd is just on the cusp of being to old but we ended up having a look in smiggle and bought a few things very over priced bits and pieces.
While in the queue to pay I couldn't believe the money people were spending on stationary, first woman 2 wee girls came to £166 and a man with a boy about 7 £98, obviously it's their money and none of my business but I think I would be sick if I spent that on pens and pencils!! Am I just old and miserable.....

We have a smiggle backpack that DD1’s grandad bought for her, which she still uses 4 years later and now DD2 is starting to ‘borrow it’.

But that was a gift (and an offering to the god of glitter and sequins). I won’t let them buy anything else from there. But I’m northern and the kids are very clear about what I view as ‘tat’. They too will grow up saying ‘I’m not paying that!’.

My children are learning well my eldest looked at me when the girl asked for £166 and mouthed what!! Hopefully they will grow up to be miserable penny pinchers like me!

@Hugsgalore

It's shit quality too. I bought my dd a bag there when she started school. The straps both fell apart within 2 weeks.
Yep I would second that. I don’t buy it myself, but DCs have been given loads over the years (it was a popular birthday present where we lived) and it systematically breaks down quickly. I would never set foot in the store myself. Thankfully DCs are growing out of it now.

I bought dd a bag from there in the sale last year for school and it has lasted well so she can use it again in September much to her annoyance. I also got her a lunchbox at Christmas from there which is still going strong. I would only ever buy in the sale though. I shudder at the full price of the stuff.
