To be surprised my parents haven’t done this yet?

They’re late 50s/early 60s and they haven’t yet written their wills.
I was really surprised when they told me but my mum was quite upset with me when I questioned it.
Is this normal? Or am I overreacting?

It's 'normal' as in average. It's not particularly sensible.

I work in social housing so deal with lots of deaths, sadly. It's quite unusual for someone to have a will.

I think it’s probably quite common, even if ill advised.

They might be perfectly happy with intestacy rules for the time being.

My parents never wrote a will as they were only ever married to each other and had no favourites amongst their joint children. It didn’t cause any issues.
