Long story short, I’m just over 6 weeks pregnant after being successful with my first round of IVF. I suffered a late miscarriage last year and pregnancy symptoms started really early and I had hyperemesis too.

I’m just so anxious that all is not well. I’m on a tonne of progesterone (via pessaries) so I’m not feeling myself but I’m not feeling sick which is what’s concerning me the most. (I can’t quite believe I’m wishing that on myself!)

I have a scan booked for Wednesday but the anxiety is driving me mad.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure it varies massively among women, but mine kicked in at exactly seven weeks. I remember because it was the start of our honeymoon!

Justanothercyster · 01/08/2021 17:38

I only had very mild symptoms from around 6-7 weeks. I too tried for a long time due to fertility issues so totally understand your anxiety, but try to not stress and fingers crossed the scan goes well 🤞🏼
I remember wishing the nausea would come and by god when it did I wished it away 😂 don't forget some people barely get symptoms

GrolliffetheDragon · 01/08/2021 17:51

It varies so much. Mine started before my period would have been due, and I had horrendous nausea and sickness. Other people I know have sailed through with hardly any.

Candydreamer · 01/08/2021 17:53

mine started at 5 weeks both times. I have severe morning sickness until about 14 weeks.

my friend who is a couple months behind me now, had no symptoms really at all and all is well.

Trinacham · 01/08/2021 17:57

I'm still waiting. I'm 14 weeks and had I not been trying for a baby and taken a test, I wouldn't know. No sickness, no nausea. Only now my belly is starting to grow, other than that, no tell tale signs!

TakeYourFinalPosition · 01/08/2021 17:58

They didn’t. I’m 20 weeks pregnant today… scan is tomorrow but all seems fine. Just no nausea, no tiredness, no throwing up…

I’ve got a bit of round ligament pain sometimes, in the last week or so, but that’s it really.

Tumbleweed101 · 01/08/2021 17:59

I've had four and my sickness always started from 7/8 weeks. Before that I had very painful breasts and the metallic taste in mouth.

Wheresmrpenguin · 01/08/2021 18:04

Week 5 I found out I was pregnant, week 7 I had sudden horrendous sickness out of nowhere and got a bit worse than that then consistent until round week 25-30. I still wonder if I had hyperemis.
But I've heard each pregnancy is different, I'm hoping my next one will be.

Eleoura · 01/08/2021 18:05

I've had 3 pregnancies (last one was IVF) and all symptoms were different. Unfortunately, I MC all 3 later on.

1st preg- Constipation at about 6 weeks. Nausea didn't start till week 8.

2nd preg- Acute sense of smell and constipation even before I tested! Nausea started about week 6

3rd preg IVF and on progesterone- Constipation again early on, but not as bad as previous pregnancies, but no nausea still 7 weeks.

Notimeforaname · 01/08/2021 18:06

I had a termination at 6 weeks..had been weak and vomiting horrendously for about 10 days before that.

I had no idea you could feel it that soon..

firstimemamma · 01/08/2021 18:09

I didn't have any sickness throughout my first pregnancy and have a healthy toddler now. Also 7 weeks pregnant now and no sickness (so far!). Some women just don't have as many symptoms as others, I hope everything works out for you and I'm sorry to hear about your previous loss.

Chocarocker · 01/08/2021 18:18

Around 6 and a half weeks I started feeling sick but it wasn’t every day until 7-8 weeks.

sayanythingelse · 01/08/2021 18:22

I was SO sick with DD. I threw up multiple times every day from 6 weeks until labour. That was the only symptom I had really.

Currently 7 weeks with my second and I've had some nausea on and off but I haven't been sick. I'm just tired mostly. I'm completely wiped out by 3pm but I have got a toddler to look after aswell this time.

Good luck with your pregnancy, try not to obsess over symptoms Flowers

Cam2020 · 01/08/2021 18:26

Try not to read anything into it - I have friends whose symptoms varied vastly between pregnancies. Flowers

Curiosity101 · 01/08/2021 18:30

Symptoms really do vary between pregnancies.

In my latest one I was sick for the first time at 5weeks 5 days but had felt sick for almost a week before that.

In my first I think I felt sick from around 6 weeks or so but was never actually sick as all.

So they were both different with different dates/symptoms.

RedHelenB · 01/08/2021 18:40

The only time I didn't get first trimester symptoms was my missed mc but given you had symptoms with your mc I think targeting no symptoms this time round is probably a good thing.

contentedcake · 01/08/2021 18:41

With my daughter around 7 weeks.
With my son I had no symptoms at all in first trimester!

Pesimistic · 01/08/2021 19:12

Each pregnancy is different, my first only had bloating, and then from about 20 weeks dizziness and fainting, my second pregnancy (miscarage) first symtom was bigger breasts, then food aversions then I unfortunatly miscarried at 12 weeks, my third pregnancy I had a heightened sense of smell a few days before my missed period, cramping for a week before my period, I thought period was coming , bloating, nausea and mood swings.

Ticktock40 · 02/08/2021 09:07

Thank you so much for the replies.

My anxiety is through the roof. I just need to know what’s going on in there then I’ll be ok. It’s hard because I’ve not felt normal since starting the IVF meds.

Week 5. I had horrendous hyperemesis until around week 18. 😩

RosieLemonade · 02/08/2021 10:47

In my fist pregnancy I was sick as a dog from week 7. Because I know how sick I was (and my mum and sisters in their pregnancies) I feel like I know something isn't right. I have been testing every day for three weeks. If I hadn't I wouldn't have a clue. I was very sick last night and this morning but my sister (definitely not pregnant) said she's been really sick too so I think it is a bug and not morning sickness.

Ticktock40 · 05/08/2021 10:10

Thanks again for your replies.

A quick update; I went for a scan on Tuesday and although they could see a fetal pole and heartbeat, everything was measuring very small so they believe I’m going to miscarry. I have to go back to the EPU next Tuesday for a rescan and so they can make a plan. I’m devastated but not completely shocked. The symptoms just weren’t there. Sad

oh I'm really sorry to hear that :( take care of yourself, it's a real shitty time x

Thorgod · 05/08/2021 10:24

Im so sorry to rrad your update OP. Hang on in there, and remember the stats say that its the full cycle of ivf (and ideally the 3 cycles) that will very likely get you pregnant. I have only ever had ivf pregnancies and so i know how hard it is. Flowers if any hope to you i now have 2 kids and preg with third so it can and does happen - never really felt sick with any of them, either. Good luck! Star

Greytminds · 05/08/2021 10:29

I’m sorry @Ticktock40. I had three miscarriages before my DD and it was a dark and difficult time. Be kind to yourself.
