To be annoyed by DHs haircut

It's really really short and his usual beard is gone and I feel like I dont recognise him Sad

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and the tiniest things seem to be making me very emotional at the moment and this is the last straw!

Lighthearted obviously but can anyone else relate?!

I hate it when DP gets his hair cut, he always gets it very short in the summer and it makes me sad. I know it’s irrational

icedcoffees · 30/07/2021 19:55

Not DP, but when I was little I used to go to a childminder and her husband would be around to help before/after work.

Anyway, he had a beard and then one day, he didn't. He opened the door and apparently I burst into hysterics and clung to my mum - I totally refused to go to him because I didn't believe he was the same person Grin

Perhaps the sooner you have that baby, the better?

lazylinguist · 30/07/2021 20:25

I like short hair on men and hate beards so YABU Grin. No, I sympathise really. I feel mildly irritated when dh has one of his beard phases!

Orangemochafrappacino · 30/07/2021 20:38

@icedcoffees I wonder if I could get away with doing that Grin

He does also have form for doing this in the summer but usually I just tell him he looks nice whilst waiting for it to grow back, today however it's made me very emotional and unsettled! Yes maybe the baby does need to hurry up Grin

My DH came home from a work conference on his first ever Father’s Day and he’d shaved his beard off. 6 month old DS went hysterical, clinging to me and sobbing and wouldn’t go near him for 2 days. DH was devastated and hasn’t shaved it off since!

I remember my dad shaving his 'tache off when I was a child freaked me out.

Op, technically it's his hair and berad and you should love him anyway etc. However, if dp cleans shaves, he doesn't look like him and I really don't like it.

He was up late one night and shaved his own head. I was pretty gutted. He was almost bald. He had like a 5 o'clock shadow on his head. I was quite upset. Because he just didn't look like him. He kept saying it was his hair etc. Which it is and I accepted it.

Anyway, when it comes to sex he prefers hair to a bald pubic area in women. Knowing this, because he shaved his head....I went and had a full wax. And then pointed out it was my own hair.

We agreed they could both have limited say in what the other one does to their appearance. Grin

I am not and was not pregnant. Blush

My exh shaved his beard off on our wedding day so first time I saw him clean shaven, I got the giggles when I walked down the aisle but in hindsight oh, that weak chin. Should have known that was an omen!

We had the opposite when dd was a baby. I was giving her lunch when dp walked out of the bathroom with shaving foam all over his face, went over to the high chair and she was hysterical.

For some daft reason, he thought that doing a gorilla impression would snap her out of it and make her laugh. Strangely enough, the sight of this apparent stranger, developing the gait of a great ape and making weird noises didn't calm her down. She just cried even louder. 🙄

I am so sorry but that made me laugh so much...I now feel bad for laughing at your child's distress.

I have been there OP. It wasn't so much that he had his hair cut or that he had it cut short, but I dropped of man with long hair passed his shoulders and picked up a completely different looking man with really short hair, it wouldn't have been as bad if he had at least let me know he had had a hair cut but nothing.

cariadlet · 30/07/2021 22:33

@Angelofchaos I was really angry with dp at the time (dd was my pfb) but looking back now, it was very funny. 😁

Regularsizedrudy · 30/07/2021 23:14

Men always seem to insist on getting their hair cut too short.

I don't feel so bad for laughing now.

Its one of the rare times I have read something from mn to dp. Grin
