I booked a Tesco’s shop for today at 11-12, I was out till 10.30 and it arrived at 10 as my neighbour saw the van and saw them knocking on my door, she mentioned it when I came home but as it turned up early I assumed it will be back (happened to me before) anyway I’ve waited and nothing! Called Tesco’s to be told he did come at 11 as that’s what he said, despite the fact he came at 10! And that they “aren’t going to dispute that” and I’ve been refunded my shop and there is nothing more they can do! Aibu to be annoyed that the driver clearly lied!! I was in since 10.30! Now that’s all my shopping gone and have to wait for a refund before I can do a shop again.

Did the driver not call you? Usually if they can't deliver, they will call you. If you have proof of the time of the call on your mobile, you can dispute it.

This happened to me once, though they called and left a message while I was driving home. I arrived home (20 minutes or so before my slot) and noticed the message. Called customer service and they made him turn around and come back to me and apologise.

PumpkinKlNG · 29/07/2021 12:25

No no phone call

That is really bad customer service. Morrisons sometimes deliver early to me but always come back if I'm not in.

I have a ring doorbell though so they would have a hard time lying like your driver has.

jimmyhill · 29/07/2021 12:32

What more do you want? They have admitted their driver fucked up, he'll get a bollocking / sacked, you get your money back. It's annoying and inconvenient, but it's one of those things.

DysmalRadius · 29/07/2021 12:34

What more do you want?

Her shopping! There's only four posts on the thread- how have you got lost so quickly?!

How have they admitted their driver fucked up? They seem to be backing him up.
ExplodingCarrots · 29/07/2021 12:35

It's been happening to me too. Customer services keep saying 'we'll pass your concern on to the store in question ' and to put a delivery note saying please call beforehand. I've had a few altercations with drivers now who have turned up 30-45 minutes early and havnt called. Some were stacking my shopping up on the doorstep before even knocking the door. Came back from a run once , all my shopping on the doorstep and an angry driver asking where on earth I'd been. It was 50 minutes early. All my frozen stuff soggy. Customer service don't seem to pull the drivers up because it's the same drivers doing it over and over.

PumpkinKlNG · 29/07/2021 12:36

There costumer service is soooo bad!! I’ve called back again because I’m so shocked she basically called me a liar and they are saying the same thing?? That I’m making it up and he was here at 11!! I’ve spent £130 that now I don’t have and won’t be able to do a shop again until I refunded

Do any of your neighbours have cctv or a ring doorbell?

Confused They haven't admitted anything of the sort and op wants her shopping??

OP my orders always turn up early, it's fine because I know that now but in your case it's deeply annoying!! Are they adamant they won't redeliver it?

PumpkinKlNG · 29/07/2021 12:37

No they haven’t admitted, they said he was here at the time and I wasn’t in, he wasn’t he was here at 10 my slot was 11 they are going with his word so how is that admitting???

They haven't admitted the driver fucked up though. They said they're not going to dispute what the driver said.
PumpkinKlNG · 29/07/2021 12:38

They are actually usually late round here so definitely wasn’t expecting an hour early, 10 minutes yeh but an hour?

Sunshineaftermorningrain · 29/07/2021 12:40

This sort of thing is really common. I remember a friend of mine being stuck around Christmas as she ordered a big Asda shop, they couldn’t deliver it but it took seven days for her money to be refunded and during that time she had no food and no money!

I probably wouldn’t use online shopping if I was that close but I get that’s no help. Really annoying Flowers

😂 I wonder about people on this a lot. Reading comprehension is terrible here!
VeryBoredWithEverything · 29/07/2021 12:42

Surely their vans will have trackers - you could always suggest they check... but I suspect it is pointless. They are not going to do anything about it.

PumpkinKlNG · 29/07/2021 12:43

Well no no offer for another slot all I got was the store will call you back tomorrow now with it being the weekend can’t get a slot anywhere else all taken

OP posts:
PattyPan · 29/07/2021 13:01

That’s crap! I get deliveries from sainsburys and they always call me to check if it’s ok to come early.

PumpkinKlNG · 29/07/2021 13:13

I’m so annoyed can’t get any other slots till Monday, I was offered no alternative and I’ve checked all the supermarkets and nothing till Monday, it’s so hard going to the shops as I don’t drive and have 4 kids to take!! Can’t get much home on the bus not enough to last us anyway

OP posts:
Barneybobo · 29/07/2021 13:19

Keep checking the website I have found random one of slots become available for the next day when people change their minds.

Definitely out of order and terrible that they implied that you are a liar where is the saying the customer is always right. I am sorry this happened.

BarefootHippieChick · 29/07/2021 13:32

If you're on twitter kick up a fuss on there, twitter customer service is actually pretty good and they respond very quickly. I had an issue recently where my delivery just didn't turn up, no phone call, no answer at their end...Finally got someone on twitter who looked into it and said for some reason my shopping had been taken back to the store 🙄 Luckily it had been repacked onto the afternoon van, but still, a phone call would have been nice!

Meruem · 29/07/2021 13:40

This is why I do prefer Ocado. Never ever had a problem with them. There’s me and adult DC here at the moment and we all buy our own shopping, so we do Tesco’s one week (mostly for DC), Ocado the next. Ocado have a reputation for being expensive, and for some things they are. But they have some very good offers. I saved £15 on cat food this week that was full price at Tesco’s. With Tesco’s we’ve had deliveries turn up at the wrong time, once they went to the wrong address and just drove off etc. Now they don’t give bags either which is a pain for me as I live in a converted house and have to cart it up 2 flights of stairs. I do take bags down but standing there having to pack it all is a pain. I will ditch Tesco’s once DCs move out again.

PumpkinKlNG · 29/07/2021 13:43

The only reason I use Tesco’s is because I find their website the easiest, Sainsbury’s and Asda are harder to navigate imo, haven’t considered Ocado so will check them out, it’s so frustrating

OP posts:
jimmyhill · 29/07/2021 13:44

The response "we're not going to dispute that" to an allegation of wrongdoing / fuckup means, in effect, "we admit it".

Imagine if someone said you'd done something wrong. Under what circumstances would you say "I'm not going to dispute that"?

Tesco vans are GPS tracked they exactly where the van was and when

PumpkinKlNG · 29/07/2021 13:46

Argh ok fair enough she made it sound like she was taking his word for it and that was it that’s how I took it anyway, interesting they are tracked I will mention that when I speak to them
