AIBU to ask if anyone else is having problems with the Tesco delivery website?

I usually book Tesco deliveries several weeks ahead, I have a saver plan and can buck up to 4 weeks ahead. But for the last 2 weeks Tesco has claimed that all delivery slots after 6th August are fully booked. New days and weeks turn up, always all fully booked. This isn't realistic and when I emailed Tesco over a week ago the customer service person said they'd get the technicians to look at it.

I use the website through a web browser (and yes I've tried different browsers and laptops)

Since then, radio silence. No way to get through on the phone (the automated system either cuts off or says to go look at the website and then cuts off), no phone back, no response to followup emails.

I just worked out that I spend £5-6K per year on Tesco grocery deliveries. If I can't get any more Tesco slots, I can't buy stuff. I can get Waitrose and Asda delivery slots, but setting up a new delivery is time consuming and once it's done I wont be back. I am struggling to believe that Tesco are happy to see this amount go elsewhere, but that's how how it is.

My AIBU vote is: YABU if I am unique and weird, YANBU if Tesco are about to go bust because no-one else can book deliveries after 6th August either!

They probably won't go bust as my store has slots after, it's probably only your store letting them down 😂 annoying for you though

PumpkinKlNG · 29/07/2021 11:33

Yeh the slots are all weirdly taken up again in my area even the priority ones as we have priority slots

VeniVidiWeeWee · 29/07/2021 11:36

At my store we have many drivers affected by the pingdemic.

Thus slots have been cut back

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 29/07/2021 11:44

I don't think it's driver pingdemic because slots still turn up now and again before 6th August. But maybe it's customer service/website programmer pingdemic.

I just have this vision of Tesco management wondering why no slots are booked after 6th August while customers wonder why we can't book slots Grin

Not Tesco but have found for the past three-ish weeks that Waitrose deliveries have been coming consistently at least two hours after my slot. Feels like these companies' operations are creaking under strain. Hopefully it's just a blip.

MattHancocksSexTape · 29/07/2021 12:08

Yep. I’m struggling for availability of one hour slots. The 4hr slots are plentiful.

Sockwomble · 29/07/2021 12:13

We are ok with booking but their were no drivers for last 2 so it was cancel or do click and collect at some point that day.

Tinkywinkydinkydoo · 29/07/2021 12:17

They are releasing slots but not many, due to not knowing what staff they’ll have available due to the pingdemic amongst other things. They are releasing slots a day or two before once they know their staff numbers. I’ve booked slots in my local Tesco once a week until the end of August no problem , but I know the county over are having big problems with staff as it’s a bigger town that holiday makers drive through and get their shopping from them so it’s a massive increase in demand as well as a decrease in staff.

PeonyTime · 29/07/2021 12:21

Just logged on out of interest.
I can have a slot on Sunday, then any day after Tuesday.

FluffyPersian · 29/07/2021 12:26

We get a weekly Tescos delivery and I always chat to the Tescos drivers (poor people) when unloading the shopping from the crates.

The chap on Sunday said that they're reducing the delivery slots by 15% capacity as so many of their pickers are being 'pinged' when collecting stuff for others in stores and that Management have asked that employees don't have their phones on them any more.

Don't know if that's across the entire country - we're based in Hampshire and I've not seen a difference in availability of slots, but haven't tried to book one in the last few days.

notthe1Parrot · 29/07/2021 12:28

Had a full order cancelled early this morning (never happened before), even though the delivery is still up on the app as coming this afternoon. When I rang them about this confusion, I was told yes it has been cancelled and is to do with staffing issues at the store.

notthe1Parrot · 29/07/2021 12:33

Just checked availability online, plenty available in priority, one hour, flexible slots every day until the 18th August.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 29/07/2021 14:58

Thanks everyone, looks like it really is just me! Our Tesco deliveries have been rock-solid reliable through the pandemic and the deliveries I've booked are still arriving on time and mostly complete. So I would like to stay with Tesco but if there's no way to book any more then too bad.

I have cashed in all my clubcard points and have a Waitrose delivery booked on the 11th in case this doesn't get fixed. Waitrose sent me a voucher which will more than cover the cost of delivery for a one-off. First world problems... it's a pity though.

I can never get online slots either since Covid was a thing unless I book up way in advance. I can usually get click and collect though. Bit of a pain because I don't drive and my DH has to go and get it!

PascalHey · 29/07/2021 15:29

I have deliveries booked for the next 4 weeks and can book another slot any day from Monday. I agree with everyone else in that it must be dependent on your area? A pain for you none the less!

TrickorTreacle · 29/07/2021 15:33

If you have an Asda near you, have you tried with them?

I was a weekly online customer of Tesco since the mid-2000s. During the 3 lockdowns though, there were no slots. I then tried with Asda from April 2020 having not used them before and I got a slot every week without fail.

Just shows that long-time customers can get left behind, yet a different supermarket can offer their service as normal.

dalismoustache · 29/07/2021 15:36

Do you live in a holiday area? We do and are finding it very tricky to get any delivery slots as the local supermarkets have so many holiday cottage deliveries.

DiaryofWimpyMumm · 29/07/2021 16:00

I just checked and mine is fine for slots I got a delivery today have one booked for 2 weeks then I'll go on and book another for 4 weeks time.

Good luck changing I detest change!

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 29/07/2021 17:20

Thanks TrickOrTreacle, yes Asda do have plenty of slots and I will probably switch to them when the Waitrose vouchers run out Smile I am convinced that Tesco also have plenty of slots locally but something has glitched on (my version of) the website. It just makes no sense for deliveries to jam up from 6th August forever, with no new slots at all released.

Pre-pandemic I could ring up and talk to customer service and have them deal with problems. Sometimes I could even talk to tech support. That has stopped. Either too many people were ringing up at the start of the pandemic when there really were no slots so they just stopped dealing with those queries, or they don't have the staff any more to talk to people.

I tend to book 4 weeks in advance. Every week I secure a slot. So currently have 3rd, 10th, 18th and 24th Aug booked. Its just habit from over lockdown - never missed a delivery. Just checked ours nothing for next week and a couple for the week after.
