Which shift would you do?

It’s agency work, I’ve been pre booked tomorrow for a place I worked in last week. I’m not keen on it at all, i heard 2 staff whisper about me, it’s not welcoming at all, plus it takes me nearly 2 hours each way, but it’s money isn’t it.

Last minute today I’ve been offered a shift elsewhere by the 2nd agency I work for, it’s nearer and better hours, and a chance to get me out of that awful place for a day.

Which would you do? I’d much rather do the new place tomorrow, but don’t want to let the first shift down. Though as it is supply I’m able to choose where and when I work.

Obviously I would tell the first agency now that I can’t do the shift tomorrow at the first place, not just ring in ill or whatever.

The 2nd and I would tell the first agency how uncomfortable you feel there and that you dont wish to work there again. They can feedback ro the manager. Can you get a block booking with the 2nd agency somewhere you enjoy. Is it healthcare.

It’s nursery and support work. The problem is that the nursery (the place I don’t like) is the only regular work I will get over summer. The shift tomorrow may just be a one off, it’s hard to say. I would happily never go back to that nursery again. Thanks for your help.

I’ve done supply for 5 months now and majority of places I have been very happy with, but that nursery is something else.

If you want to work at the first place again, I wouldn't burn your bridges by letting them down at short notice. They might not want you back after that.

Is it even financially worth travelling the best part of 4 hours a day for a shift?

Bin the first lot.

Why is it so bad, are the children well cared for or is it just a disaster zone. If the kids are affected in any way you need to report it. Travelling 4 hours a day to a crap assignment is soul destroying, is there any chance that other nurseries are offering short term contracts.

This. If you're going to need to go back to the first place then I would go tomorrow as if you withdraw now they might request someone else and you've lost your regular income over the summer, as tempting as it may be and I'd feel the same, for your own financial protection I'd go with the first one, sucks though!
