Hi,

So currently works are being done at the property I rent. A new roof is going on and is going to take longer than expected because of rotting rafters.

They arrived at 9am this morning. I asked when they would be finishing for the day and told them. I needed to go out they said that’s fine. They said they would be leaving at 6pm. I got back at 7pm- still here. They’re still here now After 9pm banging, drilling, and shouting and also playing music. I expect they’ll be going soon as it’s getting dark but still very annoying as We have a toddler and it’s disturbing her sleep.

Our landlady came down earlier to over see work. I wasn’t in but I let her know this. I’ve found Un flushed wee and bits of wee on toilet seat. I can only assume she’s let them in for a wee whilst I’ve been gone! Which of course is fine but annoyed they haven’t flushed my toilet and left it a mess.

Also the roof had foam in it and I’ve suspiciously found the foam on the landing near my bedroom and a little bit inside my bedroom which is concerning. Doorway and stairs to the loft are to the left of my bedroom. But I don’t get how the foam has got into my bedroom...

Not only that I am on a electric meter and they are using my electric to plug something in through the kitchen window into the socket.

You should speak to your landlady if you think they’ve been wandering round and she should deal with it.
I can understand it’s frustrating if they are working late and disrupting your family but actually this is good in my opinion because at least it will all be over soon. Your landlady is doing her best by keeping the property in a good repair. Workmen are not much fun to have around, perhaps your landlady could ask them to clear up if they use the bathroom.
Are you being unreasonable? No! It’s disruptive and no fun but hopefully it will be short lived.

They shouldn't still be there banging and using power tools after 9pm, most local authorities restrictions this sort of noise after 8pm during the week and even earlier on weekends. Your landlady should not be letting them in to use your toilet without your express permission, you are within your rights to withdraw this too especially if you think they've been snooping in your rooms.

Speak to your landlady about coming to an agreement on the electricity costs as this should not be funded by you.
